What is your favorite moment in DT history?

I have many, but one of them is most definitely this

MirrorMask

If you talk about "moments", well, I pick the ending of Octavarium during the Radio City Music Hall 2006 show for Score.

Climax of the song that was the climax of the concert that was the climax of their history at that point in time.

Or the Canadian Rap, hard to pick one.

When WfS is reprised in LtL. My god is that a beautiful moment, I always listen to the two songs together because of it.

I wasn't there, but remember checking the forums that night for the setlist while playing LOTR monopoly with friends (yeah :metal). When the DVD was released, my bestie and I had a viewing party and given that Octavarium is one of my favorite songs . . . it was a hell of a moment.

Going to agree with this one. Those last 2-3 minutes of Learning to Live are just magical.

Score!

I have to agree with this. Plus it's the best show I've ever seen and I've seen many bands live.

craig1928

live scenes finally free ending, about 30 seconds of pure magic

lovethedrake

Four that stand out for me:

The entire Fatal Tragedy instrumental

The "Move on be brave don't weep in my grave part of Spirit Carries On

"Clock on the wall, ticking away, sieze the day" from Change of Seasons.

"Im sick of all, you hypocrites" section of Change of Seasons as well.

Rodni Demental

Greatest moment.. Impossible to say, but one of their greatest moments captured in the early days I think is the Live in Tokyo version of To Live Forever. Just a great performance from everyone with an awesome instrumental jam and extended solos.

Estiui

Very difficult, but I'd have to go with the instrumental part in Learning to Live. Dat WfS reprise...  :heart

nicmos

Geez, you're gonna make me pick... well right now I'll say the gong at the end of Six Degrees.  perfect ending to the best 42 minute piece in rock history.

I could also go for the beginning (the first seven notes or so) of the Razor's Edge solo in Octavarium on a different day.

Absolutely this.

TioJorge

That's pretty damn good, Splent.  :lol Forgot about that...classic.

Mine will always and forever be this golden nugget by Moore, along with a few other tidbits that are apart of this excerpt but this one takes the cake (runner ups include the condoms and the gift shop scenes):

She said, "I don't like Dream Theater that much, but I had a pen and some paper, so what the fuck?"

:rollin :rollin I love it so much.

Pragmaticcircus

The Death Of Music, whoops wrong thread!  :rollin

+1

Score might be great for people that attended but the CD"s dont sound as good as Budokon which has the Hollow Years solo.
I was listening to that today and I think James picked a bad time to announce "John Petrucci"  almost ruined the moment.

I was 3 days old. :metal

Nice.   :lol

By the way, that was the first night they played the new version of A Change of Seasons.

DragonGuitar

Solo to Under a Glass Moon, maybe, but its very hard to pick.

thosava

The crescendo and razors edge part of Octavarium.

pdurbin22

Not sure if you mean a period in their career or a moment in a song, but I'd say the greatest period in their career is watching them crawl back from the doldrums of post-FII fallout that nearly broke the band (a compromised album that didn't do anything special for them, a dwindling fan base, a singer with a damaged voice, etc) and explode back with "Scenes From A Memory."

TheGreatPretender

When Portnoy left.

Hahah, kidding! That's harsh! Umm, seriously though, I'd have to say probably, yeah, the 20th anniversary show. Definitely felt like a triumphant moment for them.

Viking of the Sagas

Either James getting rekt by Myung (via Tackle) or the infamous James Photobomb.
