My local record store forgot to order TA cd and said I would have to wait til next Friday. I agreed and said I will be back to pick it up. However, I decided I didn't want to wait another week. I took over a hundred mile round trip to the nearest Best Buy to obtain a copy. I took a half day off work to do so, my bad! I wasn't 100% sure my car would make the trip as it has some issues and there are a lot of long hills up and down on that drive. I made the trip and my car did fine and I patted the dash and told the car "good job" when I got home.  I am still gonna buy the copy I ordered at the local music store and give it as a gift of music to a friend.  Does this sound crazy??  I'm sure there are others that would do this.. Ya know your a Dream Theater fan when......
I bought some beer and listened to the album twice, I loved it way more the second spin (probably a combination of the beer kicking in and some fimiliararity).. My friend showed up and listened to act 1 on the first listen. The one thing he said out loud " ohhh mannn, why did they have to do a fade out during a bad ass guitar solo!?!?" I laughed because I had previously read some of the reviews.
I'm really liking this album, just wish it had some more high energy triumphant in your face rockers! Still a great effort and a lot of new territory, I'm sure the album will age nicely with me. Looking forward to seeing it live in Seattle..

You might be a little crazy, haha. But if it makes you feel better, when I realized around 2 AM on Friday that Roadrunner hasn't sent out the digital download of the album (which I pre-ordered), I went ahead and bought the HD Tracks version, so I could listen to it as soon as possible. I mean, money aside, I didn't have to go out of my way too much like you, so it's not as bad, but still.  ;D

On the path that divides, you did the right choice.

I went to a local shop today and asked if they had the new DT album. The answer was: "No. It comes out on the 29th."

Has anyone listened to the regular cd and then the digital and noticed a difference?  Much improved on the second listen.  Either that or I was way too tired last night.

Back in the late 90's when I was a kid I once drove w my girlfriend from Boston to PA and back same day to get a box Krispy Kreme donuts cause I kept reading about how good they were.

So while that has nothing to do with your question, yes you are a nut and are in good company.
