Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Dammit, karaoke bars in the UK would never have DT.

Also lol.

Anyone else reminded of the JP outtake? :lol

Certainly a unique take on the lyrics you have there.

That's pretty awesome to see, man. I used to go to a karaoke bar where they obviously don't have any Dream Theater, although you can bring your own files and stuff. There's a thing to consider.  ;D

I like that at one point you look at the mic, like, "Is this thing on?"   :lol

Good stuff!

Anytime I've done karaoke, when the guitar solo comes up, it says something like "8 bar instrumental break" or something like that.  I can imagine doing DT karaoke, it's like "1,374 BAR INSTRUMENTAL BREAK".  :lol

Give a guitarist a mike and watch his hands do funny things while singing.

Thank you for all the kind words, I aim to please :)

But yeah, that whole evening was a riot. You paid by the song, but each song was like half a dollar or something. The DJ told us later that my friend and I had sung 27 karaoke songs total :lol
This was late in the evening, my voice was not the best anymore :D

The spirit carries on but these vocals won't carry on  :lol :rollin

Amazing to see a DT song being sung in a karaoke bar  :hefdaddy

That is a classic thread title... sounds like the start of a Fish blog/rant (anyone who followed him on his mailing list will know whereof I speak).

There is a great dive bar in Philly, on Locust Street over by Thomas Jefferson Hospital that has karaoke on Sunday nights, and for whatever reason, it's awesome.   There's always the usual subjects (who think they are the next Arnel and that Jonathan and Neal are going to walk in and discover them) but for the most part it's very blue collar, and there is nothing better than watching a burly guy who you know spends most of his days hanging from a utility pole or something singing "Hungry Like The Wolf".   I don't go up much, but after a car bomb or two, I've been known to break out the Bad Company.   :)

Good stuff.
