I've no idea about 5 either, even though it feels like it should be one of the easiest questions. :lol

:lol It's easy as hell if you look at the back of the album, but since I only listen to my rip of the disc, it's been years since I've bothered to look.

noxon

yeah, and here nobody had access to any help - phones were confiscated before the event ;)

noxon

music professor or teacher would be the wrong answer, btw.

Figured that, in which case I'd be pulling a number out of my ass on that question. Without having even a track list to look at, my guess is actually way off. :lol

Yeah thought I would be wrong on that one, since it's not before he played drums professionally... He has probably mentioned it in interviews but I can't remember it right now.

My answers were what I could remember without looking anything up. I see I managed to remember the scene correctly though.

The answer is in one of my posts in this tread.

MirrorMask

I think I either know all the answers, or know quickly what to look for. I would be at loss only for the Mangini one.

Chwik, most important question of all: How were the listening panties?

The listening panties were quite loose and varied, but tingling in the crotch area if you catch my drift  :hat

The tangopart is at the end of Lord Nafarious - it is a rock/metal tango! Cool as hell.

I don't need anymore answers, I'm officialy hyped!
Absolutely cannot wait to hear that.

Same here. That sounds killer and maybe even more awesome than the Home outro.

BlobVanDam

I think you mean Three Days, not Lord Nafaryus? But if it's the bit I think it is, it's very SFAM-esque with a more modern twist.

You are probably right, the songs are definitely mixed up after one hearing - but the part was mega cool. A short section of tango/balkan/metal/prog mixed in a blender. Don't take my words at face value though, i might be overstating that part - anyway, it made a big grin on my face.

thosava

Are there parts with a medieval sound? I was hoping for some inspiration from medieval folk music.

I believe so. It is just so much going on in the album, hard to remember everything. What I do remember, is that a lot of the songs had parts that had this kind of vibe and epicness you would get if you genetically mixed "the spirit carries on" with "losing time/grand finale". Plus at the end of disc two, JP played alone this riff reminiscent of About to crash reprise". Awesome riff!

noxon

No, Three Days has saloon music and swing jazz  in it. Lord Nafaryus has a fairly dominant tango section - and its not really at the end.

Lets make on thing clear: listen to noxon and not me - please don't take my words at face value - but noxon's you can; how many times have you heard the album by now?

Since he's mentioning the ending of a song though (along with the coolness), I'm pretty sure he means the upbeat jazzy bit at the end of Three Days rather than the tango-y verses of Lord Nafaryus.

I know right? (and people probably think you're joking)

Paintbox

What can you say about the scream in My Last Farewell?

chwik

Yeah, who can resist blastbeat swingjazz.

I can vouch for the statements authenticity. That is the part i meant referring to the tangometal section.

Guess I need to get my ears checked, cannot hear the difference between tango and swingjazz...not good for my credibility  ;)

Now I am getting way more info than I would like. That's it for me on this thread!

Thanks chwik, noxon n blob for answering queries and keeping me at the edge of my seat!  :metal

See you on the other side.....and the other thread of course!

Not much, I heard a scream - sounded like somebody got killed, but my memory is hazy (just like a murderer would say on court ;) )

ansell

There were rumours that JP may have used an 8 string guitar this time around.

We're there any riffs in there that sounded like he did? Most likely being something pretty heavy?

Enigmachine

Wow, pretty much everything said here raises my hype to new levels.  :metal

Do not think an 8 string was used. Plenty of heavy 7 string riffs though.

Another Track-by-track review.

Yeah but that's a really bad one.
Planty of "this reminds of (name of a past DT song), which is familiar so it's cool" opposed to "this is way too unheard from them so it's bad".

Great reading all this info about the album, I'm excited a lot for it! Thanks chwik!

Peter Mc

I was not aware that Another Day was about the death of a parent, you learn something every day. Will have to go back and look at those lyrics again. Great to hear everyone is enjoying the album, can't wait to hear it on 29th. Am actually seeing Steven Wilson that night but will try to squeeze a couple of listens.

Yeah, my excitement level for this album has actually been raised thanks to the recent info from the listening party and the initial reviews. It seems to be the kind of album I "want" from DT.
