Your experiences with pre-orders from Roadrunner Records

Since the clock is ticking down......with the release date in less than two days.....when should one expect to receive The Astonishing in the US of A?  Will it be shipped the 29th, or on my doorstep on the 29th?  Their email wasn't quite clear.

I just hope to have it for a Saturday evening listen (or two).

I never pre-order.  Ever.  Too many stories over the years of people pre-ordering albums and something going wrong (not just DT, but lots of bands).  Whether the label messed something up, or the shipper, or something isn't ready on time, or whatever.  If I go pick it up at the store on release day, I will have it on release day guaranteed. 

So to answer your question directly:  If all goes well, you should have it Friday, maybe even Thursday.  If all does not go well, there is no telling.  Good luck.

I only pre-order if there is a bundle. So far it's been good.


But as Bosk said, their was one time when it took almost 3 weeks after the album. That was DT12

Received confirmation that it was sent last night, along with tracking number.

I've been lucky.  My wife has ordered the last 3 studio and 2 live releases.  This one I wanted early.

I did as well.  Do you think it'll arrive by tomorrow?  My notice says priority shipping, even though I did pay for "standard" when ordering the box set.

I have just pre-ordered one thing from RR directly, the Blu-Ray CD special edition of Breaking the Fourth Wall.

Won't do it again for the following reasons:

1) I live in Mexico City, not the US. So, I remember getting my package like one month and a half late. Weird, because I've ordered things from Amazon previously and had them ship to Mexico with no issues at all.

2) The edition was being sold at several local stores 2 or 3 days after the official release date, a tad cheaper than what I paid at RR.

... and that's about it. If I'm dying to listen to the new material I'll just stream it from Spotify until the physical version starts selling down here.

I find pre-ordering in this day and age to be pretty pointless. I'll walk into FYE tomorrow and walk out with a copy of the new album like I have with every release since 2004.

Well, the deluxe Vinyl edition and the Deluxe box set have both been delayed, first time this has happened, but they'll send me the digital version of the album anyway, so I'm not gonna cry over it. Shit happens.

My experience is damaged box sets. Which is why, regardless of whats in the box set, I refuse to pre-order from them again.

And, my ADTOE took forever to show up, and they hadn't offered a digital download until they realized they fucked it up (I remember they emailed a link sometime after they realized some of us didn't have a chance to listen to it until our package arrived). So, I downloaded it by other means. I put 120 down, they fucked it up, I didn't care.

I don't really do that anymore, but I was pretty furious.
