That tweet from Arhys isn't new. It was tweeted yesterday, not long after all the new info was revealed.

[off topic]Noxon, I friended you last night, in case you didn't see.  Since your entire page seems to be in Norwegian, I'm not sure how helpful it will be to me, but still.  :lol [/off topic]

Well, I've added you to a group you should check out...

BlackInk

The fact that the shows will be such a special and probably a unique experience made me interested in going to the Stockholm show. But it was just too much money for me to spend on Dream Theater at the moment, so I'll regretably miss this one.

noxon

I bought 2 tickets for the friday show in Oslo, 2 tickets for the saturday show, 2 tickets for the sunday show, and a meet and greet pass for the sunday show...

Gappie

Awesome! i am going to the show in Amsterdam carré. Very excited!

Got tickets to Stocholm.... if they add another date I would get tickets for that too....
If I were younger and did not have kids and family I would probably travel to see them a few times more.

Kotowboy

:lol i'll buy the CD and at a push - the vinyl too.

Frankgate

Anyway, the shows are sold-out almost everywhere, should they fail, the audience would throw a lot of tomatoes   :P

emtee

I'll buy the CD if the reports on the sound quality are favorable.

So... Previously, on DTF's The Astonishing Thread: (yeah, a reference for AMC's TWD)

With the amount of tracks we have now, assuming each act is a separate CD, then none of the tracks here will be too terribly long, an astonishing change of pace for DT.

Quote from: noxon on November 23, 2015, 02:23:49 PM
I'm thinking it's songs between 2 and 6 minutes, all of them. Excepting maybe a longer one on disc two which'll act as a winddown track (similar to finally free on sfam, i'm thinking).

Quote from: MirrorMask on November 23, 2015, 02:28:49 PM
To reach 20, or even 17 [tracks] (take away the three NOMACS tracks) you still don't have lot of room for DT standards.

Quote from: Dream Team on November 23, 2015, 06:48:00 PM
Even for 2 CDs the average song length would be only 4.7 minutes.

Quote from: Mastermax0213 on November 23, 2015, 08:47:31 PM
Itd still be nice to have songs that are well over 8 minutes. Longer songs stick out to me way more.

Talking about full length albums (which is what they almost always have done) we actually do have room for DT standards.. And even if the "average" is 4.7 minutes, that doesn't mean they have to be all 3 to 5 minute songs, and not even 2 to 6, or 1 to 7..

With a full length double-album, we might still have something like this:

ACT I - 20 tracks

-Seven 1 minute songs (intro and short interludes, not like SFaM I'd say, but like 8V's negative times)
-Five 2 minute songs (shorts but with JLB, like Regression, TMW or WIMH)
-Three 3 minute songs (short instrumental -probably the overture-, and/or songs like Vacant or TSM)
-Two 5-6 minute songs (DT actually has a lot of these kind of songs)
-One 7-8 minute song (even more average DT song's length)
-One 11-13 minute song (we do need some of these, and there's room for it)
-One 17-20 minute song (and there's even room for an epic)

Total length: from 71 to 79 minutes..

ACT II - 14 tracks

-Four 1 minute songs
-Two 2 minute songs
-One 3 minute song
-Three 5-6 minute songs
-Two 7-8 minute songs
-One 11-13 minute song
-One 17-21 minute song

Total length: from 68 to 79 minutes..

I guess each CD will be 70 minutes long, so the whole Astonishing Live show will last approximately 2:40 hours (with intermissions and breaks included, I guess). That, plus a couple of encores (hopefully The Bigger Picture or a song that hasn't been played yet) makes the whole evening show.

Well, TBP, Surrender to Reason and The Best of Times are the only songs that hasn't been played yet.. And since I don't see at all TBoT being played (even less this time around) I guess those two DT12's songs are the only reasonable..

Anyone notice how there's a "[something] Yorke" in the new map snippet, and a Long ... err ... "Endless Isleland" to the northeast of it?

Gpals71

I am so looking forward to the show in Amsterdam. Got myself a Meet & Greet Pass  ;D
Have seen all their shows in Norway since 93.
Unfortunately I am out of the county for all their shows in Oslo 2016. If not, I would have ended up seeing them 3 times there too  :metal
Wouldn't miss this tour, so I had to get ticket in Amsterdam. The concert will be Astonishing & Epic.

Don't know if the allusion was clear enough, but it's obviously a "NYC with Long Island to the northeast". They are from Long Island.

2 tickets, eh? I'll fly out to Oslo. However, think you could drop me off at the trailhead of Trolltunga after the shows? I'm going to have a lot of energy pent up, I think I'll have to scream on top of my lungs on that ledge.

Hey guys, newbie to the forums . . . been keeping up with this thread for new info/discussion on the album and figured I might as well just join. Super excited to hear this new album in its entirety!  ;D

Anything new since yesterday's updates? Or are we just playing the waiting game again . . .

I really, really hope they plan on bringing a full "Astonishing" show to the state, especially if there's an orchestra/etc. involved with the live production. However, judging by where they're playing in Europe, I have little faith that they'll decide to hit the southeast US this time around...

Never thought of it possibly being like that before . . . that's pretty epic!

I figured each track would be 3-5 minutes but be more like parts that seamlessly flowed together . . .

But forget that - like your idea much more!!! Two 20-minute songs on one album would be awesome ;)
