This one wil probably be difficult for most voters, but we'll se how it goes...

TheCountOfNYC

Take the Time is my favorite from this album.

TheGreatPretender

Not a bad song on this album, but choosing Metropolis wasn't all that difficult for me.

1. Learning To Live

2. Metropolis

3. Take The Time

Randaran

Take the Time. This was a very easy decision.

Destiny Of Chaos

Very, very easy for me, as Metropolis is the only one that's in my DT top 25.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

Crow

turns out signatures are fundamentally broken now so here's my passive-aggressive signature about signatures instead

Learning to Live beats Metropolis by a hair. Which beats Wait for Sleep by a hair. Which... Etc.

Dublagent66

The Letter M

LTL for sure, but Metropolis comes close.

Surrounded.  Not the "definition" of a DT song but the song is perfect.  Maybe my favorite song be anyone ever.  JLB delivers in a way I don't think any other vocalist ever could.

JiM-Xtreme

Learning to Live. Not difficult for me at all  :P

:tup I can't imagine another album having 3 songs as good as this on it. And the rest of the songs are great too. Metropolis was my #1 for a long time, but LTL has overtaken it to be my favourite song now.

Very surprised that Under A Glass Moon is the only song without a vote thus far!

I'm not; it is easily the weakest on the album. Which is not a bad thing at all.

I never got the semi-hate for Under a Glass Moon. It's a fantastic song (every song on I&W is really), and the weakest on the album for me is easily Surrounded.

I've personally never seen any hate for Under A Glass Moon, but it definitely isn't talked about as much... Like all songs on I&W, it's pretty much perfect musically but doesn't do as much for the listener as the others I suppose

I never said it was bad. Every DT song is at least good, though some are much better than others.

My ranking of IaW:

Take the Time
Wait for Sleep
Learning to Live
Metropolis
Pull Me Under
Another Day
Surrounded
Under a Glass Moon

The last two would be switched if UaGM had a better solo.

I would have voted for UaGM if Metropolis wasn't on it.  I have to agree that, for me, Surrounded is probably toward the bottom for I&W too.

I'm somewhat surprised by the results so far:

-I was expecting "Metropolis" to take it in a land-slide, or close to it.

-NO votes for "Under a Glass Moon?"

-Also shocking that "Pull Me under" didn't at least get a FEW more votes.

-I'm even a little surprised that "Wait for Sleep" so far has gotten ONE vote. I figure people who only like "that" kind of music probably wouldn't listen to Dream Theater.

I'm not entirely sure by what you mean when you say "only like 'that' kind of music" because the poll asks which of the 8 songs on IAW do you like most, or which is your favorite. Just because you like ONE song out of 8 doesn't mean that person or those people specifically love ALL music that sounds like that one song.

I picked "Learning To Live", but I don't like all music that sounds exclusively like "that" song. Seems a bit presumptuous to say that about a DT fan.

That's why I said "semi-hate". There's not really a word for it, but it's generally regarded as the worst song on I&W (even if it is still good).

-Marc.

Mellower songs.

Shorter songs.

Piano-driven ballads.

Songs lacking in heavy guitar and/or percussion and/or heavy organ/synthesizer parts and/or a heavy bass line/bass solo and/or screaming vocal parts.
The majority of DT songs has at least ONE of the above

I don't know what you're saying at all because, generally, Wait for Sleep and Another Day are regarded as the worst songs on IAW. UAGM even ranked as the 4º most favorite IAW song in the last survivor.

Ha Ha, Dude!  After all this time, you still can't quote?  :rollin

That's alright!  Us old foggeys have to stick together.  You've got a streak of good threads you've started.
