Breaking the Fourth Wall? I hope every song ends with JLB making a wise crack and winking at the camera.

So do I.  :lol

Sounds okay. Pretty much what I was expecting.

Kotowboy

Looks a lot less like an X Factor audition video than LALP . . . .

Less disco lights and Reality TV angles.

JP is again maybe too loud but than can be Youtube sound. And I have to say this sounds more live than LALP to me. I'm hyped for release :tup

Pretty sure it's the YouTube sound. The master file I have is  :metal :metal
Could be my headphones as well :P

Liking that! Simple and classy.

And I think these are actually the best MM's drums have ever sounded on a DT release.

I knew the DVD would be in good hands considering the directors were the ones behind Rush's R30 and Snakes and Arrows Live DVDs and judging by the clip released, it's going to be a fantastic DVD! It doesn't suffer from what I call the Steve Harris Syndrome (watch Maiden's Death On The Road which Steve Harris edited and you get what I mean) and that is always a good thing. IMO, the mix sounds better than Luna Park, Mangini's drum sound on here is the best of the 4 releases he's been on (that would be the ADTOE, DT12, LALP and this upcoming DVD) and the Boston audience sounds more like an audience than the ones at Luna Park which almost sounded like canned applause to my ears.  :lol

On my first watch, I really liked the mix much more than Luna Park.  Drums, bass, and keys stood out more in the mix.  The drum sound in particular was much nicer. The video shots and cuts were clean and crisp.

I like it!!!  :metal :metal

Hey Wey, any details on bonus content, like a doco etc?

FsF

Looks light years ahead of Luna Park already, but by christ that guitar seems loud in the mix to me.

I guess there isnt any because I would have thought it would be included in this:

QuoteThe collection will be available in multiple configurations including Blu-Ray, a 2 DVD set, and a webstore deluxe exclusive Blu-Ray/3 CD set with poster, all currently available for pre-order via the Roadrunner Records webstore. Furthermore, Dream Theater have premiered a video of "The Looking Glass" (LIVE) taken from BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL (LIVE FROM THE BOSTON OPERA HOUSE) which can be streamed on the band's official YouTube Channel. All pre-orders for the webstore exclusive will receive an instant download "The Looking Glass" (LIVE).

Usually bonus content is told in that area, but it would be cool if we got some behind the scenes stuff with regards to the Eren and the bands collaboration.

Actually, the Roadrunner Store page mentions bonus features, albeit without giving details:

QuoteProduct Description

Filmed and directed by Pierre and François Lamoureux, and mixed and mastered by Richard Chycki, Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House) is over 2 hours in length, complete with special bonus features.
Bundle Includes:
Breaking the Fourth Wall Blu-Ray + 3xCD
Breaking the Fourth Wall Poster
Breaking the Fourth Wall Digital MP3 Album
'The Looking Glass' Digital MP3 Single

?

Nice artwork! :tup The DVD version includes two discs, so there must be some extras.

Katatonia are also releasing a new DVD in September and I have a bunch of CDs to buy, so hopefully I won't be broke by the end of the month! :lol

Oh nice, it would be surprising and unprecedented to have a DT dvd without them.  But then again they released a DVD only a year ago.

Couldn't agree more. It's as bad the first few songs on Luna Park for me.

Let's hope it's a YouTube issue as Wey intimated. In my experience, though, a bad mix on a YouTube video usually turns out to be a bad mix on the blu-ray or CD. Time will tell - hopefully I'll be wrong on this occasion.

The last week in September is a busy one for prog releases, with Flying Colors and Enchant releasing albums that week as well.

DarkLord_Lalinc

This is miles better than Live at Luna Park. The filmography is better executed, the mix is way (WAY) better and it sounds solid. Very solid.

Amazing. And it's coming really soon.

GentlemanofDread

The only bonus feature I want is Video Screen mode, where I just watch the videos for the background with the live sound.

That would be very nice. I'd love to see just the live visuals for songs like Trial of Tears with the live audio.

Interesting, because the vast majority of opinions on Luna Park I heard were overwhelmingly positive, almost to the point where I thought they couldn't improve.

yeah_93

Oh my God, it comes out ON MY BIRTHDAY! So excited for it!

Then again, this won't arrive to my country until a while passes; which is sad.

goo-goo

No DVD + 3CDs bundle...

The artwork looks fantastic...Might get that one with the poster and the DVD version through Ebay or Amazon.

mikeyd23

Man, this certainly may be MM's best drum sound on a DT release yet... His tom fills in the intro sound glorious.

krands85

Nice, wasn't expecting this to be released so soon. Sounds better than LALP I think, it seems a bit more...'live'. Though I would still prefer keys+bass a bit louder in the mix.
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

Looks incredible!!  Luna Park didn't really wow me like I expected for some reason, but I have a feeling this one will.  Love the artwork, the video and everything.  What is the "fourth wall" though?

Nice!  It looks great.  I won't comment on the sound until I hear how the Blu-ray sounds, as opposed to just on YT.

The invisible wall between the performers and the audience.  Had to look that up myself.

Here's the bigger picture.
Am I the first one that got this?  ;)

This sounds amazing and I like the classy cover, but I'm not too sure about the way the footage looks. Some of it looks like being shot from the audience by a fan for the purpose of being uploaded on youtube. Also, the guys at Eagle Rock still need to learn that the band has a bass player, for God's sake!

Nevertheless, I can't wait to get this. Being that I bought LALP beginning of January, I hope to get this by the end of the year - that would be two new DT video releases during the same year.  :metal
