But in all seriousness, is anyone suggesting Regression isn't good? I actually really love it. It's an amazing way to open SFAM. Very soft and acts as a great prelude into Overture 1928.

Agreed

In the real world, ACOS by a landslide.  When I can't fall asleep and I need to start spinning through time, Regression.

I'm glad that this poll was made, as these two incredible songs do not square off in this year's season of DT the League.

Yup, I like it more than Beyond This Life.

ACOS by far, the complexity of Regression is too much.

ACOS is a disjointed exercise in musical masturbation and wankery.  Filler at best.  And those "let's be prog" lyrics....."hypocrites" and "seize the day" and all....c'mon DT...we expect more of you than this.  I'm surprised they didn't even think to try and squeeze a cool sounding jazzy guitar solo somewhere in there.

Dude.....they wrote that song when they were like 17! Name me a 17 year old who when trying to wax all philosophical doesn't spout out a paragraph of cliches?

Plus....lyrically at least, the song was a way for a very young man who lost his mother on a horrible plane crash to 'deal' with it and express himself.  I personally love the lyrics that much more knowing the inspiration behind them.

I think that post was in the spirit of the fun of this thread.  I could be wrong, though.

Well it's my bad if it was. It's tough to tell sometimes. Besides, I wasn't trying to be mean or anything....just saying not many upper teen kids can write a song like that.

Actually, Mike was about 27 when he wrote the final version of the lyrics in 1994-95 and probably would have been around 23 when he wrote the first version.

But, in any case, as Jaffa said, I'm pretty sure that AngelBack is kidding (like pretty much every non-Blob person who said Regression). The give away is that he said "Filler at best," which makes no sense as ACOS was released pretty much as its own EP.

Nah, ACOS is obviously filler.  They just wanted to release a covers CD, but they knew the fans would want some original music, so they just shit out ACOS.

Aythesryche

Both are great but ACOS has a bit more meaning for me. I remember being around 17-18 and first hearing this song and it was one of those tunes growing up that has actually helped me keep a tremendous positive focus in life. I remember specifically taking long walks, looking out car or plane windows while trying to decide what life path to take next while listening to songs like ACOS, extrapolating my own meanings from the lyrics and melodies. As cheesy as this may sound, ACOS is one of the songs that helped make me successful in life.

Sorry to read such negativity and tasteless jokes about this song. But hey, doesn't change my opinion about it! Carry on, my friends. :tup

Oh...I thought they were younger than that. At any rate.....it's a killer song.

Jaffa had it right, it actually pained me to write those words as ACOS might be my fave song of all time by anyone......but this thread drove me to it....I feel so dirty...

Biggest troll thread in the history of the internetz?

Regression of course!
Because it is shorter and therefore I actually might listen to it from start to finish!

Because they'll square off in the Final, that's why.

Regression will win all of its regular season matches from here on out and steamroll over the opposition in the album tournaments. Wait and see...  :P

This poll is exactly as meaningful as all the other comparison threads.

Edit: btw obviously Regression. ACOS is too long.

You can't have a "vs." with more than two options.  Obviously ACoS would win if the poll was set up correctly.

Really?

Yeah, I do think it would win in a straight one-on-one.  No offense to you though because sometimes a simple poll can be boring, and this was certainly not. :lol

425

Nah, I think since the premise of the poll is obviously in jest, if there were only two options, the "equally bad" vote would go to Regression as would most of the "equally good" and "not like each other" vote. Because if there are ACOS fans who are taking this seriously, they already voted for ACOS instead of another one of the joking options. I think if it had just been the two options it would be a Regression landslide.

Just so I'm clear on this, you think that 42 people voted for Regression because they legitimately like it more than ACOS?

Guys, this poll is 100 % legit.  For real.
