So, I posted this all the way back in 2011, but since a lot has happened in DT-world since then I thought this would be really fun to do again.

So here's the scenario: Lets say DT's discography was reversed. The lineup doesn't change or anything, just the albums.

e.g.

-Its 1989, and DT has just released their brand new, first ever album: The self titled Dream Theater with vocalist Charlie Dominici!

-Its 1992, and DT are just releasing their second album: A Dramatic Turn Of Events, with new vocalist James LaBrie!

-Skip forward a bit: It's 2009, the "Awake" album comes out, and it turns out this is going to be Mike Portnoy's last album with the band.

-Skip forward to 2014: we're currently in the "When Dream And Day Unite" era, madly awaiting the new album.

How would you feel about DT if their discog was reversed like this? Would you still be a fan? Maybe a bigger fan now or a lesser fan? How well do you think they would have done at first as well as at this point in their career?

So their latest album was really a flop.  :lol

But really, I could like the idea, even though they were too modern at 90's.

Imagine Charlie Dominici singing The Enemy Inside  :rollin

The Curious Orange

On the bright side, each album would have less compression and more dynamic range...

A harsh demo with Chris Collins. The eeenemy inside! YYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!  :o

That would be awesome for WDADU to have James and a good production!! It would be really cool to see them really branch out into a wackier, kinda more crazy style, but still not in such a way that changes their sound forever or anything. Of course I'm not exactly sure what to think of Charlie singing Pursuit of Truth  :rollin

Maybe "money love and fame" would kind of me the equivalent to "haaand" in falsetto  :lol

Then I&W would be critized for being too similar to ADToE.

Wouldn't be much different to me as far as ranking goes.  First and last albums would still be at the bottom of my list.
