So good. :coolio

I still wish Dream Theater would have made a song out of the main piano melody in Truth.  That is one of the best things Jordan Rudess has ever played. :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

I remember that was one of the first things I bought when I was getting into DT. Love that album. It's great on a rainy day.

hefdaddy42

One of my favorite albums.  It's a shame that this was just a one-night thing.

I just missed going to that show by a c hair.  It's one of my favorite things to listen to.

rumborak

Great album beginning to end. Such a bummer no videos exist of the event.

There are some...but the quality isn't that great.

Hang 11 is also pretty phenomenal. Even though the main riff is of course a play on Take 5.

Just threw it in my Amazon cart.  I cannot keep money after venturing into one of these music threads.    :P

Dtman2112

This is one of the best recordings ever released. A true gem!

It's like candy canes from Christmas on a humid summer's day. It just sticks to you and you want to lick it off your fingers and savor every last bit of it.

:lol :lol

Definitely needs more love, here.

Used to see this at Best Buy all the time (when I shopped there and they actually carried music).  Never really thought to pick this up because no one ever talked about it.  Glad to hear such positive reviews.  I ordered a copy.

Absolutely amazing album. Black Ice and Truth are my favorites but the whole album is excellent.

LCArenas

Great album, I love their rendition of State of Grace. Truth is amazing too. I kind of want them to do another evening like that.

Same here, now it's the only thing I listen to from DT with any sort of regularity.

theanalogkid7

After I "acquired" it from someone on campus in college many years ago, I bought a physical copy because it was just so daggum good.  The Rena Song is fantastic.

hefdaddy42

Absolutely one of the best DT-related albums.

Nefarius

The Rena Song is right there among the best stuff JP has written.
I'd love to hear a full band version of it.

Greetings...

The Hairy Man

Great album.
Especially love Truth and The Rena Song.
Is it controversial to say Bite of the Mosquito is better and more melodic than Flight of the Bumblebee?

Chino

I haven't heard this album in years (lost the CD). I remember track 5 being my favorite.

KevShmev

I had never heard the extra songs on the re-release until this week - I bought the original CD right after it came out - but checking out the other songs now...

-The live version of State of Grace is pretty close to the LTE version, except some of JR's synth sounds are missing.  Still, a very nice version.
-The Rena Song is pretty sweet.
-Bite of the Mosquito is pretty awful.  Rudess' piano stuff is great, but Petrucci just shreds away non-stop for two minutes, with a nary a melody to be found.

wideworldofmike

Oi. Never heard this record before. So cool! Truth melody is like some elements of spirit carries on, right? So good!

The best version of State of Grace for me is the LTE Live in LA one from 2008. So much feeling.
As for BOTM, I think there is a bit of melodic content in there, but overall I agree. It's the one track I pretty much never listen to because it's just really boring. I think it was intended to be just a random extra track on the end though, and I suppose for that purpose it works.

kaos2900

Amazing record. I actually play that at work while people are walking into meetings. People always love it!

Really? That's cool.  What part/song?

Such an excellent album. And such a shame that they never did something like that again on any of their albums.

Crow

everyone is praising this so i guess i should give this a listen
turns out signatures are fundamentally broken now so here's my passive-aggressive signature about signatures instead

I wish they had this on Spotify.

Actually it is. At least here in The Netherlands.

I haven't seen it. I even tried to search it by song and a few of them didn't come up.  Strange...

DarkLord_Lalinc

I would love another album like this one. Absolutely stellar.
