Raise the Drum

You can always try with Prophets of war or Surrounded (not the '08 version).
Guitar wise those are pretty simple.

With DT, for not advanced guitarists like me, near all the songs are playable till the solos  :rollin :rollin :rollin
hahhaha, yeah that's what happens every time I want to learn a new song by them.

1. Peruvian Skies
2. Finally free
3.Lines in the sand
4. Repentance
5. One last time
6. Sorrounded
7. Pull me under

Sacul

Through her eyes and Eve. They aren't guitar-driven but have so many feelings.

Just so you know, Repentance also requires a 7-string. There's probably ways you can go about playing it without, and you can definitely do the solos without it, but the verses have the low B.

yeah_93

Have you tried playing These Walls? I know the song uses a 7 string guitar, but you can always play it an octave higher. The song is pretty easy.

It actually doesn't. It uses a 6-string baritone guitar which is tuned to A. You COULD use a 7-string and tune it down though. It certainly sounds fairly easy by DT standards to play though. As someone mentioned though, you still need to have pretty confident phrasing and vibrato, which is probably the #1 thing I admire JP's playing for.

a8ac

You know what?? Fuck 7-strings, Ill try with my 6-strings, The mirror, These Walls, Repentance and The bigger picture  :tup

Rodni Demental

A lot of Honor Thy Father isn't too difficult to learn, also the riffs can be really fun if you find the right guitar tone. I'm fairly sure there.. Isn't a guitar solo in this song? (Keyboard solo instead, unless JP is sneaking one in their)

eosforum

I just insist that SOC is far easier than most of these songs. Especially if you avoid all leads (including the begining of the first guitar solo and the final lead) there should be nothing that an amateur strummer (like me) cannot play...

a8ac

Yeah... but that is the problem... I would like to play a complete song, not just diferent parts of a song.... And SOC has really difficult leads..  :-\

OsMosis2259

Solitary Shell (edit) is pretty fun to play on the acoustic!

Guys, he's a beginner. Keep that in mind. Some of these suggestions are laughable. That aside, there have been a few great suggestions. Also, don't worry about "100% learning" each song like one guy said. Practice what you know and push yourself. If that means learning a bit of a song there or a bit of a song there, then so be it. It's all part of the big learning process. Here are a few:

Pull Me Under (opening chords and try out the main riff)
Under A Glass Moon (intro chords and increased octave)

Erotomania (intro riff and maybe play with that complicated riff afterwards)
The Silent Man (intro chords)

Peruvian Skies (intro and verse)

Overture 1928 (intro riffs and riffs throughout)
Beyond This Life (intro riff)

The Glass Prison (intro riff. i know it's 7 string, but you can still try this one)
Misunderstood (intro chords)
Solitary Shell (intro chords)

As I Am (big crashing opening chords and main riff)
Endless Sacrifice (clean intro and verse riffs. chorus if you're feeling ambitious)
Stream Of Consciousness (main riff if you're comfortable with power chords and stretching your hand)
In The Name Of God (clean intro riff and main riff)

The Root Of All Evil (main riff)

Repentance (clean intro riff)

The Count Of Tuscany (intro chords [solo if you're feeling ambitious])

The Looking Glass (intro riff)

Almost all of these are standard tuning. If not, you can still check out the tabs and play around. These are not all the same difficulty, but all are great for a beginner who wants to practice and get better. PM if you have any questions. Learning guitar (especially DT) is great fun and rewarding.

EDIT: I'd like to add that if you keep learning bits like this, you'll come back to songs you once found too hard and you'll be like "Wow, I can play this now!" Once that happens, then you'll learn songs 100% through. Just keep pushing yourself. It's important to try things that are "too hard" but also kiiinda in your range if that makes sense.

I hope this helps, man. Good luck and happy playing!

Shade

It depends how fussed you are about learning the solo's in each song. I'm in a similar situation and have learnt a few DT songs and just skipped the solo's for the time being.

I'd highly recommend ITPOE (both parts), and just simply leave out the really fast sections for now. Also I've found BITS to be a really fun song to play as once you get to grips with the tempo, it stays consistent throughout the song (except chorus, solo and a couple of other bits)  just with a bunch of different riffs.

CodyWanKenobi

Regression is probably their easiest song on guitar.

Wow, thanks man  :) I'm sure I can play most of the stuff you said, I'll just need to practice..... But about being a beginner, I think I might be more of an intermediate player, I can play things like BAI Intro, Beyond This life riffs, TCOT rhythm sections and stuff... And I am familiar with the basic techniques... The problem i have is mostly with those solos that require a lot of speed (which I do not have) So Im looking mostly for songs without those kind of solos, or parts. And yeah, playing DT is a lot of fun and it is always pushing my limits :D My goal is to someday be able to play all this stuff without any problem, but for now Ill just practice  ::)

TheOutlawXanadu

Through Her Eyes is great for beginners. Mostly basic chords with a nice lead to learn how to bend correctly. I highly recommend it.

Most are not in standard tuning....

Speak to Me - found this to be the easiest of easy songs to learn in the DT catalog.  Very fun to play, too.
