I can live with Repentance's placement, it's a really nice and chill, mellow song, though your other picks are far too low IMO (yes....even TCOT).

SECOND worst song on Images and Words? Now this is interesting. :lol PMU is probably my least favorite off of it, but it's still a great song. I'm really interested in seeing the rest of your worst DT songs list now.

Four awesome songs, all four wayyy too low.

also lol
also BMS is actually a bad comparison 'cause really it's not that bad, it's just too simple and the robot voice and lyrics are abysmal but it's not that bad to be compared to like that.

Won't complain about TCOT really. I'd like it more if they trimmed the fat off it but it's still a good song. Blind Faith just irks me to this day, it's still my least favorite 6DOIT song besides the title track itself. I can share in the TDEN hate and can't complain too much about where Repentance is. Also Wilson and Akerfeldt both speak on the song so that's funny you bring those up.
8vm is also in a fair enough place though I only listened to the Score version like once? Someone Like Him is totally not boring though I contest that point.

I don't agree with a single placement in this update. Well played sir. :rollin

I like BMS, I only put it as an example because people seem to dislike it a lot.

Before today's update, I'll begin with the Top 5 songs that could/should be on the list.

5- Trial of Tears.
How sad it is when the only thing you like of a song is the chorus. "It's raining, raining deep in heaven...". Those JMX lyrics are awesome, I don't get their meaning but who cares, James does an excelent work all over the song and that's enough for me. The instrumental sections are weird, I don't like so much that Sherinian style. But still a great song.

I'm kinda confused on how you're organizing this list. What happened to the top 5 worst? Is there 3 separate list segments going on at once?

Yes, the 4 songs are daily and the two other top 5 will be alternated. Tomorrow I'll continue with the top 5 worst. Sorry if I made you feel confused, I'll clarify it on the first post.

Couldn't disagree more about Derek's keys on TOT. They are amazing and the his solo is one of the best DT key solos imho. I love Jordan but his "attempts" at that solo that I have heard just havent matched up.

And now let's begin with the Top 5 Worst DT Songs Ever.

5- Pull Me Under
I'd rather listen to BMS than to PMU. It isn't so bad, but the thing doesn't go anywhere. Its very repetitive and has little diversity; now I understand why this song was so succesful and why TTT and AD didn't work out as singles. The second worst song on I&W.

:omg: I think you might just have bad taste  :P I'll be following intently waiting for you to make up for it.  :lol

Daily update:

30- A Change of Seasons
The first time I listened to this song, I loved it. It became my favourite tune for over a month or so. Nowadays I don't listen to it so oftenly, but when I do it, I like what I hear. Generally it's awesome, everything on it is so equal in terms of geniality. Somehow, it has lost it's magic for me. I still like it a lot, but it's not the same when I heard it long time ago.

29- The Bigger Picture
This. TBP took some time to grow on me and now I think it's one of the best songs in the self-titled. It starts in a very direct way, something unusual for a DT song but somehow great. The calm section is amazing, James singing is so peaceful. The chorus is great and the solo it's ok, it could have been way better (let's hope JP improves it during this tour). It has some pop and Coldplay vibe but it just makes this tune more awesome. My favourite part is the outro:
"I've listened to the stories of resentment and disdain
I've looked into the empty eyes of anger, fear, and shame
I've taken blood from every stone
And traveled every road
When I see the distant lights illuminate the night
Then I will know I am hooooooooooooooooooooooooome "

James sings that with incredible passion. Great song.

28- Disappear
A sad but mature song. Most sad songs in gral are cheesy and boring, but the atmosphere in Disappear is completely amazing; I fucking love the space and reverb on James' voice. Luckily, near the end, the song turns a bit happier and with hope. DT should make more ballads like this.

27- Honor Thy Father
How can we begin a metal song full of hate? With a drum solo/fill. It's incredible how diverse this songs is. The chorus is quite meh, but the rest is sick. Wankery, James singing with so much hate, "Don't cross the crooked step", more wankery. This song is so great, it has some weird things like a canadian rap, but somehow everything just fits.

At this point, the remaning songs on the list are so amazing and I fucking love them. All those songs are equal is quality but some songs are more equal than others.

A Change of Seasons is way too low and I'm not sure how HTF beats out some of the other songs.   :P

ACOS and Disappear both way too low. TBP is the best DT12 song but still any DT12 isn't top-50 worthy. And HTF is just the worst song on ToT so no I don't care for it.

Top 5 worst songs:

4- Wait for Sleep
I've never liked this tune and I think it's their worst ballad. The piano riff is not that bad but just that. James does a good work, as always but it doesn't help me to pay attention to this boring song. Dull and boring. Seriously, if I were David Prater, I'd have taken WFS off I&W.

I love Wait For Sleep. I don't even really consider it a ballad, though.

How can one DISLIKE WFS? I literally didn't even think a human being could have an adverse reaction to such a song. And take it off I&W?! May I quote you a lyric...

"She shuts the doors and lights
And lays her body on the bed
Where images and words are running deep"

Your list, of course, but...  :censored

I DO NOT DISLIKE IT. But also I don't like it so much; it's just a bit boring. But compared to the top 3 songs on that list, is heavenly :lol. I should have made just a top 3 with their worst songs, because those are the number of tunes that I really hate.

Daily update:

26- Endless Sacrifice
Almost my fav TOT song, only toped by another epic tune. The intro is a bit sad but when the guitars enters, it gets awesome. One of my fav chorus of the band. The instrumental section is very dynamic and diverse, I never get bored of this. Oh, and the "Over the distance, we try to make sense..." section and how it connects to the final chorus is brilliant.

25- The Mirror
Awake can be a dark album. I think one of the reasons of why people think that is because of this song. The MP/JLB duo is amazing, almost scary. James performance is brilliant, KM keys are awesome and JP shows us how to make a metal song without guitars all the time. And the reprise of SDV is epic.

24- Anna Lee
And underrated song in an underrated album. I just love this and almost everything on FII; they have an unique personality. The piano sound is wonderful and the acoustic chorus is beautiful. "And now she's calling out a name..." is godly, almost as the solo.

23- Misunderstood
SDOIT is a weird album, but for good as it has incredible songs like this. IMO, Misunderstood is easily the most experimental song DT has ever done, and it's awesome. The beginning is quiet and James has the same effect as in Disappear (reverb). The way the second chorus begins is amazing and from there almost everything is perfect. The instrumental sections are weird but I can't really imagine them in another way. The section before the last chorus (that's called the bridge, right?) is one of JLB best performances ever, not because of high notes but for the emotions that he puts to those lyrics.
Oh, and I like the final solo. The fact that JP improvised it, made it backwards, learned it in that way, recorded and put backwards again gives it something unique.

Anna Lee shouldn't be this high but it's not like horrible or anything to put this high. I'd put The Mirror higher but can't complain about it this high, and the other two are about right.

All in all this might be the best update of the list thus far.

Good to see Endless Sacrifice here. A lot of people don't really care for it, but it's always been one of my favorites from Train Of Thought.

This is the wrong answer. Unless you're speaking a language where "dull and boring" means "beautiful and amazing."

Anna Lee, in my opinion, is actually a ballad that's kind of just there. It's pretty to listen to but never one that I feel compelled to put on.

Endless Sacrifice and The Mirror are awesome.

Misunderstood is awesome until the guitar noise and atonal tinkly keys come on. If the song ended properly or if there was an edit that included the full song but ended properly like the radio edit, I would love it (perhaps I'll make it someday), but the outro doesn't even sound like music to me and it drags down the 7-8 minutes of song before that, even though those 7-8 minutes are really really good.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

The noise/feedback outro of Misunderstood is probably my favorite.
