So I was playing a bit of Minecraft and got creative with some glowstone.

I never understood what' so special about Minecraft that loads of people even consider spending hours on it.  :justjen

What draws me to Minecraft is the "redstone" mechanic. Redstone is basically wiring. By using combinations of redstone torches (that either generate or invert signals) and redstone dust (that move signals across distances), people have accomplished INSANE things. Some people have wired up entire 8-bit CPUs inside Minecraft.

There's also the pure building aspect, like the 1:1 scale U.S.S. Enterprise that someone built.

I see Minecraft as more of a LEGO-type toy than a video game.

Let me find a video to show Marco what you mean..

Minecraft in general is extremely educative even though it wasn't intentionally meant to be. Perhaps the idea of survival is a bit boring, but people create pretty immense things that aren't really boring at all.

I guess computers are made just for the enjoyment of it. Kids the age of 15 and under are learning how to BUILD COMPUTERS FROM SCRATCH. That's pretty amazing even if it's extremely time-consuming.
