So as I was on my way home from work a little while ago, I stopped at the local Circle K to get some beer. As I walk in, I realize that A Change of Seasons is playing on the stereo! I told him that Dream Theater is my favorite band, and he said they're his favorite as well. He wasn't all that knowledgeable about them though. He didn't know about the new album, (which I told him was fucking awesome) and he also pronounced LaBrie as LaBry.  :lol

Either way though, it was an awesome moment. I've heard DT playing at Guitar Center before, and have had GC employees comment about my DT shirt before, but have never had an experience like the one I just had.

Have you guys had any similar experiences? Please share!

Btw, sorry if there is already a thread for this, I searched "Dream Theater in public" and didn't find anything.

(nothing)

It's hard to recall stuff like this at 2:30 A.M. but here's one:

After my first General Chemistry lab in college, the instructor started playing metal tracks as we were cleaning up. At one point I heard Stargazer blasting through the speakers, for a while I hadn't even realized it was the cover from BC&SL but when I figured it out, I immediately found the guy and we started chatting about the band. He told me that he saw them - for the 5th time - a month before (2009 in Montreal for the BC&SL tour) with his wife and I was very jealous at the time because I had never seen them live (and never did while MP was in the band).

I have spotted guys with DT shirts out there at least a couple of times but never started a conversation.

While on the bus, I saw the back of someone's T-shirt and just caught the "am Th" part of Dream Theater, but I recognised the font. When he came on the bus, I could see the rest of his shirt. It was definitely a DT shirt. I said nothing and threw him the horns. Silently, he returned the horns. Nothing more was said to each other that day.

There's a really popular humour show in my country that is only on TV on saturday nights. In it, there are several sketches played all throughout the show and in between one and another a presenter speaks with background music. There are also advertisements on it and so on. The thing is once, perhaps two years ago, they played 6:00 behind either the presenter's voice or and advertisement. I was all  :omg: at that moment  :lol

I work at Red Lobster as a busser. A few weeks ago we were cleaning up for the night and a random server and I started talking about playing piano (we both play). I asked her what the most difficult piano pieces were that she played. She said: "Well there is this one band... It's called Dream Theater...". I looked at her face for a sec, disbelieving that such a nice happy girl would ever listen to metal, but I said "Dream Theater is my favorite band!!!" Both of our faces went  :omg:!!! Since then we've been very good friends and we can't wait for the new release.
