First time listening to the album, and I'm already singing along to TEI :metalol:

I've got my thoughts written up, but I'll wait until there's a global stream.

Really wanting to read them, I'll wait out a little longer.

BTW, after an intro and a song a couple of weeks old, the real new stuff is going to start in a minute!  :D

Once there is a global link, can we update the original post in this thread please?

God in heaven... The Looking Glass is totally a nod to Rush...and totally amazing! Just started it...
I really think The Looking Glass is much better than both TEI and Along for the Ride
100% agree. Not entirely sure why it's not a single to be honest.

the Looking glass is exactly that kind of Dream Theater that I have been wanting to listen for a long time!!!! Soft, melodic, great guitar solo!

My first thought: I want an instrumental version of the album.
Ouch. :-[

James still has time to impress me. I've only just gotten through Enigma Machine.

edit: I really liked the intro of "the bigger picture". Soft, melodic, James kicked ass. But then the wall of sound hit...

Nihil-Morari

The bass breakdown in The Looking Glass is indeed great, wonderful melodic solo too.

Any complaints about the snare are huge over-reactions and nitpicking. There's nothing wrong with it, sounds great with the rest of the album so far.

And wow, this is good. Real good. Best thing since SFAM. So glad the excessive wankery is mostly toned down. The focus on song writing is apparent and welcomed.

And Myung, finally I can hear you most of the time!

Does the riff to Enigma Machine remember anyone of Inspector Gadget's theme?

11:25 - 12:05 Illumination Theory. You're welcome.

Google freaking Chrome? That space dingo sucks bottom juice. I can't be arsed to download that garbage.

I wouldn't go that far. It's a rather different sound for a snare, not just for Dream Theater. I think it's understandable that it won't be to everyone's taste or expectation.

Totally wasn't expecting the doubletime riff after the intro of Enigma Machine
