So yeah, this album is pretty f-ing awesome. I like that I can actually hear Myung for a change.

For a change? He's way more audible on Train of Thought.

Wait, I think I missed something - listening to the Rolling Stone stream. False Awakening seemed really short and had no vocals. Did they do something wrong?

No, it's a 2:42 long instrumental. Nothing wrong!

It was verified a long time ago that it's instrumental and only goes for 2:42. The stream is fine. :P

The orchestral section in the middle of IT...absolutely beautiful and moving...

Best Orchestral stuff from DT by miles!   SDOIT Overture sounds like child's play compared to that!

That being said, False Awakening Suite reminds me a bit of the opening of The Odyssey by Symphony X.

Oculus Ex Inferni

And I'm glad the IT intro isn't as long and boring as the SDOIT overture :D

The SDOIT overture is better.

I'd agree if it was six minutes shorter.

Wow. The Looking Glass reminds me of Surrounded so much - nothing specific, but the vibe and brightness of it. I've wanted to hear something like this from them since Solitary Shell. Brilliant.

Illumination Theory vocals starting at 11:45...

He goes up to an F5. Only a semitone off THE F#. :metal

Just started my listen:

False Awakening Suite: HOLY SHIT!!!! Best thing I've heard from them in a long time. Damn!
And so far The Enemy Inside makes a lot more sense in the album context.

I'm more of an album type guy, so singles can usually ruin my experience, but this is fucking A so far.

I said to myself I wouldn't listen to this stream, but apparently, I can't help myself.

This post is incoherent.

Illumination Theory has started. Along for the Ride wasn't that bad in context of the album. The Enemy Inside has more power, backed by FAS. This album is not bad at all!!

The ambient sounds section of IT just started. The first time I'm slightly let down while listening to DT12 :-\

Petruccinator12

-) Where's the bass solo in Enigma Machine?! Or was it supposed to be in IT?
-) Is there a guitar solo in The Bigger Picture....?!

Absolutely stunning stuff....just incredible..I love Enigma Machine

Nihil-Morari

The orchestra is really nicely arranged, I really want to know if Jordan did the arranging too.
But wonderful, the moment it goes back to DT is great, you nearly forget you're listening to a DT record.

PixelDream

Nooo way Illumination Theory is great! I'm only in the instrumental intro but Jordan is rockin' it sooo hard!

Just reached it then, and am thinking the same thing. I didn't really like "AftR" at all when I first heard it, but it's a nice fit in the album.

99% JP is using an 8 string on FAS
hmmm I had the same thought. I don't think this is the case though...
It would be really cool if John busted out and played around with an 8 on the next album though.

Oke, I got it...a bit disappointing. :/ but apart of that ...  :tup

Ok, imma post my thoughts too.

FAS: Really cool intro, I very much picture it opening the concerts, although it's a bit strange to have an intro for a concert with the actual instruments on it, otherwise I like it, especially the MIDI section.

EI:Rocking on to this metal track! Very catchy chorus and THAT keyboard breakdown  :hefdaddy

TLG: Really rushy. I love the chorus and the guitar solo! I don't like the ending, though, too simple.

EM: When Petrucci said something about this track having a spy movie vibe, he wasn't kidding! Amazing work by everyone but especially from Mike   :metal dat solo!

BP: holy cow, this track is amazing. It's surely one of the highlights of the album. That chorus! And that finale! Amazing, one of the best tracks in various albums.  :metal

BTV: epic intro, really enjoy it. And the riff that comes before the chorus, it's awesome, and I remember writing a similar riff, so it's even more amazing! Really like the whole song, especially the first verse, the chorus and the synth section.

STR: I think this is a grower, it's a pretty complex track, but I really like it. The chorus reminds me of BITS, and omg dat Petrucci solo  :eek it's so raw! I really also enjoy the outro. RESTLEEES ANGEELS!

AFTR: Really love this song, it's gorgeous. The chorus is epic and the keyboard solo, my god.

IT: Awesome! A bit too complex, but it will grow on me for sure. Really love the ambient section and all the metal riffs in this awesome track. And James finally shows up! My god, where have you been, man? The ending is epic and so is the easter egg, one of the most beautiful things on the records.

Overall: awesome record! Some songs are a bit too overthetop, but they will grow on me for sure.

Mostly just transitional fills. Kinda disappointing.

Overall though, this is amazing. Really pumped right now.

Nope, it was written by Jordan but Eren arranged it and conducted the string section in the studio.

BTW the ending of IT really epic, super-grandiose, nearly Flower Kings-like, really lovely. Love the orchestra in the ending too.

They both did a phenomenal job.

Hahaha! Jordan is using a patch called 'Communing With Wales' from Omnisphere. I was just playing around with those patches yesterday, and I suddenly heard it pop up in the ambient section of IT.
