Mosh

ADTOE had some anthem like moments, though I"m not sure if I really liked them. Obviously not going to make any judgements before I hear the album though.

Is it just me or the key of TEI in the beginning is different? Or maybe I'm crazy and it's just a very low quality version?

Absolutely different keys  :eek It is weird

Good interview!
I'm going to make my pre-order some time next week!

Depends on your definition of an anthem, I guess.

I mean, maybe Outcry, but that's more of a bitter, rebellious anthem for those oppressed by war, rather than the kind to just get you pumped and get your adrenalin going the way "The Final Countdown" "Rock You Like A Hurricane" or "I Wanna Rock" would do.

according to my definition of anthem, I think that Outcry would be the only song with anthem like moments.

Agreed. But even then, it's minor and solemn. The fact that JP emphasized that this one's gonna be in the major scale is a whole different story, and precisely why I'm looking forward to it so much. I just wanna hear something upbeat and exciting, like Overture 1928, but with vocals.

aprilethereal

The whole major-key, arena rock thing reminded me of About To Crash.

Great video, I always love these track-by-track descriptions :tup

Something upbeat like Just Let Me Breathe
And something badass like You, Not Me

YEAH!

Sounds like a balanced album. Can't wait to hear it!

I've been waiting for a track by track interview, and it turned out pretty well.  :tup

I've noticed that too, really weird.

It's in a different key, for some reason.

emtee

Probably alone in this view but I've been getting a weird vibe from JLB during moments of these vids. Like he wants to be
really geeked and mentally there but his mind is on something else.

As far as the song descriptions it gets me a little more amped.

Yes, something like this, but with a bigger hook for the audience to grab onto!

I'm now incredibly pumped for this. I'd love to see DT try their hands at arena rock. I'm sure it'll be interesting. :D

OsMosis2259

Yep The Enemy Inside is in a different key here.

I can totally relate to JP when he was describing the lyrics to THE LOOKING GLASS. Seriously though...a lot of people on Facebook/instagram/twitter etc act like they are celebrities.  I really like social media but when certain people abuse it, it gets too much.

Whatsername

Does anyone know why The Enemy Inside was in a different key in this interview? It sounded really strange to my ears, and I don't think I'd like that as the final track as much.

OsMosis2259

No clue...
but the final track isn't going to be in this key.

It's a semitone higher for some reason.

BlobVanDam

People often change the pitch of songs to get around Youtube's automatic copyright detection. If you change by about a semitone, Youtube doesn't detect it.

That might be the reason.

Can't wait for Behind The Veil!!! I absolutely love the idea of a JR intro piece followed by a Metallica/Megadeth type metal riff, and a big, "gorgeous hook-driven chorus" to drive the climaxes. Oh, and kidnapping sounds like a very interesting lyric topic.

Also, everyone solos on Enigma Machine?! Sign me up.

And my anticipation for Illumination Theory goes without say. I have a hunch this song could be the next Octavarium.

:biggrin:

Just looked a little tired to me, if anything..

My excitement for Looking Glass skyrocketed with the words "arena rock". I can't wait to hear it! Something big, melodic and bombastic from DT sounds like heaven.

Sentiment shared. I think this genre is something DT can pull off very awesomely.

Good ear! The original is in E Minor, and this one is in F Minor. Maybe the vid uploader pitch raised the song for some reason...in any case, very weird!

And we should surrender to it... :neverusethis:

On a serious note: Absolutely stoked EVEN MORE (didn't know it was possible...until now) for this new album. I had a huge smile on my face throughout each explanation of the tracks. 18 more days for the US release!!!  :metal

TheGreatPretender

By the way, is it just me, or does JLB look like he needs to make friends with some sun screen. In 2011, he got a wicked sunburn, and now, it looks like that's the case again.  :lol

Whatsername

No I totally thought the same thing. He looks tired and sunburnt in this video. I feel like he must have spent a fair bit of time outside in the sun either that day or the day before.

lyfeternl

Perhaps that is why his hair looked extremely blonde in some more recent interviews/pictures...

Sun: The Natural Hair Highlighter

'Surrender to reason is the first song we wrote in January...': for me this finally closes the question about matching the actual name with the working title of every song.

False Awakening -> Opening/YARRRG
Enemy Inside -> Bad Larry
Looking Glass -> Smoothen
Enigma Machine -> The Clover
The Bigger Picture -> Dolphin Safe
Behind the Veil -> Vinegar Seed
Surrender to Reason -> Reap the Harvest
Along for the ride -> "
Illumination Theory -> Epic + Easter Egg

Dream Team

I love how JP is so passionate about the music. He's never like "oh, we just threw this song together and threw it on the album". You'll never get that attitude from him.

Ah, I totally forgot that feeling when I stopped spending my entire summer days at the beach a couple of years ago! I should have seen the effect of sunlight fatigue :D

JoeG

Great video! Pumped me up for everything, but especially The Looking Glass, Behind the Veil, and Surrender to Reason.

Seems to be sped up. Higher speed of playback would result in it seeming to be a higher key, would it not?

Depending on the software used. But if that's the case, then that's probably what happened.

So, The Looking Glass is like Rush's Limelight?

Sounds like the lyrics and guitar solo of Limelight with the sound of Halo Effect

Interesting enough, when I start to think that my level of hype had reached its saturation point, a track by track interview comes out and shatter the glass ceiling  :metal
