I am really conflicted about this one. I have to go for CD 2, but it's a hard choice :-\

CD two. Misunderstood and Blind Faith drag down CD one a bit, at least for me.

fibreoptix

Disc 1 for me. Not a single bad song on there.

As far as disc 2 goes, almost as good, but I feel like TTTSTA and Overture drag it down just a little.

All in all though, those two discs pretty much represent the band at their very best.

Scorpion

The Glass Prison and Blind Faith would rank higher in my top 50 songs than SDOIT. Easily disc 1.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

Oh, wait. He was asking witches. I should retract my vote. :P

I dislike The Glass Prison, but the 1st Disc is miles ahead of the second for me. All the songs except for the aforementioned are really stellar, all peaks (major and minor ones) in their career. Had the SDOIT song been half its lenght and more coherent SDOIT would have tied Awake or even Images as the best DT album of all time.

Grammar nazi's unite!!!

There are NO WITCHES IN SDOIT!!

But if you're asking WHICH disc I prefer, it would be disc 2 by miles and miles.

TGP is the best song from disc one...and it kinda slowly goes downhill from there.   Disc 2 is one of the single most amazing songs DT has ever written.

AngelBack

SDOIT as a whole is darn close to SFAM for my number one spot.  I can listen to both CDs at almost any given time or mood.  But I voted 2 as it seems as fresh and relevant today as the first time I heard it.  Overture could be a little shorter but all in all it is in masterpiece category for me.  And I think MP does his best work on this record.

Mosh

I gotta go with 1, though SDOIT is tied with Awake for being my favorite album. Disc 1 really shows their experimental side and each song is completely different yet they all come together to make an awesome experience. Disc 2 is experimental too, but since it's just the one song it doesn't have the same effect.

BlastParadigm

I love every song on both discs.
But I prefer CD2.

Aythesryche

Both discs have their place for me. I enjoy them both.

This is like asking which one of my own children is my favourite. It's an album, so I don't make a distinction between disc 1 or disc 2, especially as imo it's DT's best album.

Can we have an option for liking both equally?

This. I've always disliked how people would make a distinction between the two discs when it is one album that just happened to be split because of the limitations of the physical medium. The Who's Tommy now fits on one CD but it was two vinyl discs originally.

Also, asking this question is like asking "Which Act of SFAM do you like more?"

-Marc.

Tom Bombadil

I honestly think the title track is the worst song on the album, by far. Every song on disc 1 is great, but disc 2 is my least favorite DT epic.

Aythesryche

Some people are genuinely confused at the concept of why one can't quantify such things. Others get equally confused by those that do. Perhaps I'm odd, but when it comes to the music I like, I've never really put one piece of music above or below another perminately in my mind. I suppose this has to do with the fact that I know, depending on my mood, I will appreciate a certain piece of music more so than another at any given point. It's always changing up for me. That's like saying I love pizza so much and a lot more than steak. Then I go and eat pizza every day for a month straight and then I don't enjoy it anymore as much as I then do steak.

To apply an relegating absolute to music and leave it in that mental box with a number slapped on it forever seems pretty limiting to me. In ways, applying an absolute quantative standardization to music seems to go against the nature of what the music was designed to do for me in the first place.

If I ever did a DT top fifty, disc two would be no. 1

CD 2 for me. Have to say TGP is one of my fav song though.

Fixed the grocer's apostrophe for you.

To the original question, I prefer disc two. One could say I find it rather enchanting.

Lowdz

CD 2.

If 6DOIT was only cd2 it would still be top tier DT.
Disc 1 wouldn't.

MoraWintersoul

The second disc is PHNOMENAL but I have to give the slight edge to the first disc.

aprilethereal

Don't know honestly. I can't stand BF and Misunderstood, and I like TGD, but it's not that special, so although TGP and Disappear are stellar, more than half of disc 1 is meh for me. I'm not really huge on the title track either. I really don't know :-\

Theme Dreater

The Glass Prison really rocks, but honestly I think it blows all the other songs on disc one out of the water. Disc 2 for me has very few stale or questionable moments, so disc 2 takes it for me.

Dellers

Disc two, fairly easily. Disc one is good as well, but TGP drags it down quite a bit since it's a bottom 5 song for me.

wolfking

CD 1, easily.  In fact, I'd listen to disc 1 again in place of disc 2.
