I know the song, but nothing in it reminds me of UAGM, which riff are you referring to?

The riff at 1.00 of UAGM. It reminds me of the vocal melody from the chorus of NL rather than that songs riff. It's probably just me  ;D

Sorry SORRY to bring this up again but I was listening to The Enemy Inside today and when JR comes in with his strings patch - is there quite noticeable pumping going on - or is that the patch that's swelling ?

Brickwalling it is one thing but audible pumping is really unforgiveable.

Also - apologies if this has already been discussed. xx

Isn't that kind of thing usually accompanied by a noticable change in overall sound intensity? I think it's just the patch.

Kotowboy

I can't tell very well but it sounds like the guitar kinda swells too.

I'll have another listen.

TheGreatPretender

Backstreet Boys are the ones who are all evil and Satanic, right?

Kotowboy

I think we have cross-thread pollination :P

I don't remember which part of the song atm, but I was certain I heard some pumping as well during some parts of the song. Maybe my ears were tricking me, but it sure sounded like it.

The Stray Seed

What do you mean by "pumping" and why should it be unforgivable?

wolfking

I have been 'pumping' this song in the car, and I think it sounds fantastic.  I have no problem with the production whatsoever.

"Pumping" is when there is too much compression applied to a track so when loud parts come in - everything else noticeably drops in volume.

I think club  music purposefully does it or overdoes it - so when the bass drum comes in - everything else seems to get louder slightly in between all the bass drum hits.

This is a rookie mistake and should not feature on any professional album.

I haven't found that with TEI at all, but yeah I know what you're talking about and have noticed in other music.

I've only ever noticed it with certain songs I compressed myself, and that's cause I didn't know what settings to use.
But yeah, certainly not in TEI.

I now use this video to get my TEI fix, instead of the actual song itself:

I find the audio quality is better.

While it doesn't sound perfect, there are several things about it that just pop and and shout, "man, don't you just wish the album that cost hundred of thousands of dollars to produce sounded this good", which is really really sad.

TheGreatPretender

It's nothing without JLB. They should've just done an instrumental cover.

Although different tone quality to his voice entirely, he sounds just as good technically as JLB and sang it just as well. All the performers did an excellent job.

It's not a very difficult song to sing. But when I want to listen to a Dream Theater song, I want to hear Dream Theater. JLB to me, is truly irreplaceable.

LBC.

Kick-ass song, but is the weaker of the album.

This. But, if by some freak accident they had to replace him, they would have to use someone without an obvious accent in his singing.

His accent isn't noticeable when he sings. It's only really strong when he's making fun of it eh?

Wow, they do look alike. I can't imagine being at a concert though, and hearing him sing Metropolis. It would be a bit heart breaking.

Not sure how your ban wore off, but that's fixed now.  See after 9/25.
