Labrie's vocals in the versus are embarrassingly too low.  Not a fan of the triggered snare and kick sounds.  I think the guitars are WAAAAAAYYY too loud.

This. JLB sounds way too low in the chorus although it could well be the quality of the stream.


Getting serious Octavarium/SFAM vibes on second listening. Love it so far. For sure one of the heaviest singles DT have put out.

This is awesome!!! MM is really coming into his own.

Some may disagree, but I really like the snare choice/mix. Very pillow-y....almost sounds like an electronic kit reminiscent of Images And Words, namely Metropolis (but not flooded in reverb as was the "in" sound for older metal.)

Going to listen again...and again and again!!

I love the drums so much. Oh my God. I can't put my finger on what about the mix it is that makes me love it, but damn. I just imagined hearing them play it live and feeling those drums vibrating my whole body. WOW.

Also holy crap JLB. I am so in love with his vocals. I feel like he gets better every single time!

Very cool! A great way to show a band at full steam ahead. Really dig Mangini's cymbal work. I'm sure there will be plenty of atmospheric/gentle/prog moments in the album for different tastes for the doubters. This is just a kick ass teaser.

So I gave in and listened to it, but I've only heard it once and it will remain that way until September.

That guitar tone is phenomenal - Petrucci wasn't lying about that chocolate cake part. It IS pretty loud in the mix but for me that's a good thing, and it's not like it makes MM's drums less noticeable, and I like how it sounds here better than in ADToE. Great song. I'm quite satisfied.

The only disappointing bit is that there's no pre-order information like some of us here were predicting.

Ugh, it is taking every ounce of my self-restraint to not go and listen to it 25 more times. I don't want this to get old before the album comes out. I want this song to feel like I'm seeing a friend that I haven't seen in years when I finally get the entire CD.

Seems like a huge sonic improvement over ADToE. Drums and cymbals are clear.

It's an excellent melodic metal song. I couldn't really ask for more. It has all the core DT elements.

Really really liked it, and that was streaming on my computer and like some others have mentioned it usually takes the first single some time to grow on me so I'm really pumped to hear more can't wait to listen to it a few more times and with headphones but can't right now !!!!

First impression: Pretty good for a single. Nice chorus. Not sure about the production. Drums sound better than ADTOE but overall it sounds a little too compressed to me. Could be the stream though.
