Super excited to hear this but also can't help be a little nervous about the outlet. I wonder if this combined with the fact that JP and the guy at the party said the album was more mainstream are cause for concern. I'm happy we get a single in a few days but I also have misgivings about the release being presented on a site whose most popular music stories of the day are about Rihanna, Simon Cowell and Maroon 5. Time will tell.

I imagine the label will push for something a little more edgy sounding, like The Enemy Inside, or Surrender to Reason to be the single. But then again, I have no idea what these songs sound like, nor do I want to until I actually hear them.

Yes, I was. I mean, imagine you're a fan of Trivium, or one of Roadrunner's many other bands, and you're on Youtube, and you're not really familiar with DT, and RoadRunner recommends you a new DT single that just came out... called "Along For The Ride". Regardless of what it's like, the title wouldn't really appeal to someone who likes harder music. But imagine you see "Dream Theater - The Enemy Inside". Sounds pretty badass. I'd check it out.

Well, it shouldn't be considered a "slap in the face," because there actually is a valid excuse in this day and age.  It's not as simple as you having your own video on YouTube or Facebook and just making it publicly available to everyone.  Yes, from a technology standpoint, it is a very simple thing to do.  But DT, like all bands, as well as its label, has a series of contractual obligations to a variety of different sources in different countries, and they each have their own series of requirements, their own timetables, etc.  Although it may seem to someone on the outside (i.e., the general fanbase) like a simple thing to have everything completely coordinated, it's just not really easy to do at all.  So try to keep that in mind rather than taking things personally as a "slap in the face" and assuming the band must somehow consider one segment of their fanbase less important than another.  I'm pretty confident that is not the case.

Yeah, I saw it in the other thread. That it will be available to other regions is a given. But they didn't say when. For all we know, we'll have to wait for weeks until it's 'officially' available to the rest of the world.
