I don't recall anyone posting this song before, but it is known that the intro samples for BITS were from a sample collection that JR had (I can't recall which one, maybe something Spectrasonics?), so it doesn't surprise me that it's popped up in another song. Always interesting to hear. :)

It's an Omnisphere patch, it's to be expected that sample appears in other songs (Omnisphere is an extremely popular VST, I use it myself and I've found *several* sounds JR uses, like the piano at the beginning of A Nightmare to Remember, some SFX, the choir patches, etc).

oh i wasn't calling anything out in a negative light. i thought it was awesome when i heard it.

and i LOVE omnisphere!!! where in the library would i find it?

If I recall correctly, the patch is called "Angus Dei" or something like that  :D It's on the "Human Voices" category, scroll down quite a bit and you'll find many voice patches JR uses. Also, if you feel curious in the browser tab look for "Burning Piano", and you'll get the A Nightmare to Remember intro piano effect. Nice stuff.  :tup

It's called "Agnus Dei" which means "Lamb of God" in Latin.

Agnus Dei! The song is great too, I love that kind of music!  ;)

That's cool. The inspiration for the BITS intro has to come from The Flower Kings though and since the similarities simply can't be written off as coincidences I'm certain it has been mentioned a lot of times in similar threads. Anyhow...

Use Spotify or whatever to play The Flower Kings' album "The Rainmaker". Listen to the last minute of the 7th track, Thru the Walls (go to 3:38) and then let it transition into Sword of God (the 8th track).  ;)

Burning Piano is awesome.  I'm in touch with the guy who recorded/sampled it and I have my students do projects based on some of his work.

And yes, Omnisphere is incredible.

Hah, this music is awesome.
Yeah it's pretty cool!

It is pretty cool!  Reminds me of those sounds of nature CD "enhanced with music" you used to see at stores like Target.  They had Sounds of the Rainforest, Thunderstorms, Waterfalls, etc.

Omnisphere rocks, I've lost many nights to it. Just an excellent synth and library of sounds. The quality is amazing.
