Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite
Basically Kyoko Kirigiri

Ruba

Good picks.

I have no problem with the Blind Faith chorus either.

Naikon

I really like Blind Faith! I only ment that I dont think the chorus is as interesting as the rest of the song, dont get me wrong!
Anyway, were closing in on the list!

26. Another Hand - The Killing Hand

I class these songs as one, as the way they are played on the "Live at the Marquee"-dvd. I really love the vocals and the lyrics on this song. Favorite part is from 4:45 until the end!
"No sound, no smoke, no scorching flame".

25. Hells Kitchen

First time I heard this was when listening to Instrumedley, and I thought "that ending song was so fucking epic". The bells-part in the outro gives me chills.

24. Hollow Years

Somehow this feels like an earlier version of "The Spirit Carries On", though better. I really like listening to this song. Not so much more to say about this song...

23. Peruvian Skies

Okay, this song must have the BEST GUITAR SOLO EVER. Just listen from 3:16, one of the best musical pieces I ever heard. The build up, and then this fucking amazing wah-wah-solo.

DebraKadabra

Dig Hell's Kitchen and Peruvian Skies (PS is :metal ).  Hollow Years is okay (I have to be in the mood for it).  AH/TKH? :dunno:

For once we slightly disagree on something! I love Hollow Years, although I agree on the rest.

Can't agree on 'em all, bud. :lol

We're closing on!

22. Breaking All Illusions

The solo in this song stood out completely! I really overlistened the solo section when I discovered this song.

21. Beneath The Surface

It took a while for me to discover this song, but I think that this is probably the best song on the ADTOE album. The section at 4:25 gives me chills.

20. Beyond This Life

Kinda strange song, it really shifts between a slow ballad and a heavy riff song. Favorite part is "What we have been is what we are". Really great song!

19. Misunderstood

Misunderstood! A kind of underrated song from SDOIT. When I heard the chorus the first time, it punched me right in the face. So powerful and so mighty! The guitar which lies in the background of the chorus is so fucking good. The only bad part is that I think the outro is a bit too long and boring. By the way, I love running to this song, I feel like a superhero.

BlobVanDam

I don't care for the 2 ADTOE tracks, but I love BTL and Misunderstood. :tup

And of course the outro has to come up. :getoffmylawn: There's nothing wrong with it, sir!

?

BAI and BTS are two of my top 3 favorites on ADTOE :)

BTS higher than BAI?! ???
I love them almost equally, although BAI wins by a hair. But then again, I'm very emotionally attached to BTS, so it may have an effect :P

GasparXR

This is a REALLY good group! The two ADTOE songs are my favourite from the album, BTL is one of my favourites from SFAM, and although Misunderstood is towards the bottom of SDOIT for me, it's still one of my top 20 songs because that whole album is amazing.

Eh... I can understand that, I guess.

Full Speed

BTS is my favorite Dream Theater song.

Love BAI and Misunderstood, but I was never big on BTL.

Naikon

Hey guys! Time for a new update. Unfortunatly I have so much to do at school right now, so I don't really feel like making long comments for every individual song. Hope its OK!

18. Voices

17. In The Presences Of Enemies Pt.1

Favorite part is from 4:15. Love that muted guitar!

16. The Silent Man

First I didn't like this song so much, but now I love it! Favorite part is the chorus.

15. Strange Deja Vú

I fucking love the Portnoy-choir in the chorus! Favorite part here is also the chorus!

Sorry, but I dont really know what to write for each song, because you guys probably know everything already.
I love them, and for me its simply enough by just listening to them!

DebraKadabra

STRANGE DEJA VU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :heart :hefdaddy :metal

I freaking LOVE that song.  For real.

Middle section rock riff. That is all. :metal

Great choices. Nice to see TSM top 20. I love the shorter, simpler songs, so TSM is one of my favourites from the album.

Ruba

The Silent Man doesn't get enough love, a beautiful song.

Yeah I was really considering having it even higher!

It's worthy of a higher spot IMO.

14. The Glass Prison

Maybe their most metal-song, even more metal then ANTR? Anyway, I think that the outro is the most powerful and beautiful part of the song

13. Surrounded

Cool song, what really got me hooked the first time was the guitar solo. Everything in this song is perfect.

12. Lines In The Sand

Such a funky song, makes you feel happy. The guitar solo is wonderful. Impressive drumming by Portnoy also.

11. Trial Of Tears

The "Wasteland" section might be one of DT's most beautiful. Love it all.

BlobVanDam

I think Surrounded is great, although I don't consider it a top 20 song (still top 50 though).
The rest are all at least top 20 for me though. :tup

DebraKadabra

Awesome update!  I think I'd peg TGP just a wee bit higher, but otherwise :hefdaddy

We're closing up! I totally LOVE the following songs. This is how Dream Theater is ment to be.

10. Fatal Tragedy

This is one of the first songs I heard. Took a couple of listenings for me to even understand what I heard. So much great melodies and heavy riffs.
Love the concept of the "shrink and grow"-section.

9. The Count Of Tuscany

This song is also special to me, because it's one of the songs who really got me hooked. I remember playing some kind browser-game, and this song accidentaly began to play.
I saw that it was over 19 minutes, and usually I would just have skipped track. But I thought "whatever, I'll give it a try". So I did. And I love it.
Maybe not so surprising, but the favorite part is kind of acoustic and harmonic part in the end. I've introduced some friends to DT by this song, and they love it too.

8. Take The Time

I am too tired to write much about this song. But I considered having it even higher, because all the melodies and lyrics are so amazing.

7. In The Name Of God

This song must have one of the most epic outros in the whole world. I mean, from 10:24 until the end is beautiful. Almost makes me cry when the choir enters at 13:00.

Thanks for following me, those songs mean so much to me!

Lucien

The Count of Tuscany would be higher for me, otherwise  :tup

BlobVanDam

Great picks yet again! Take the Time and ITNOG would be top 5 for me, and I love TCOT and FT. I can't listen to FT without air keyboarding that great solo.

Yeah, I also thought so at first. But it gets so hard when you see all those other fantastic songs.

Glad u like it!

DebraKadabra

All good choices, minus The Count - it's a good song, but it's WAY overrated IMO.

LOVE Fatal Tragedy and Take the Time, and ITNOG is just... GODLY. :metal

6. Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence

Didn't know if I was to count this song as one or eight different. Anyway, combining all those makes it a great song. Solitary Shell was the "section" that got me hooked. Favorite parts are Solitary Shell, About to Crash (Reprise) and Grand Finale. This song contains many emotions and the lyrics are great.

5. Metropolis Pt.1

My favorite drum song. The drumming in this song is so excellent by Portnoy. Favorite part is 8:04, BEFORE THE LEAVES HAS FAAAALLEN

4. Octavarium

This song is growing on me. Actually I don't listen to it that much, because I think that the intro is A BIT too slow. Not much, but just a little. Favorite part at 12:14. FEELS SO GOOD!!
