Cool to see him appreciate outstanding musicianship. I have to say though, man, he is somewhat "off" about why Winger never got bigger than they were.

White text on black screen.  I think I'm having a brain hemorrhage.  Ouch.

That said, kudos to him for his kind words about Jordan.

Off by about 3-4 years. :P The problem was over-saturation with the same style of music, not that it was winding down yet. Their first two albums were within the era for that kind of music, hence the fact they went platinum.

I consider it high praise, just judging from Winger IV and Kip's solo outings alone. Incredibly good, creative, masterful playing on all of it, and he's a grown into a superb lyricist to boot. I wish people would stop judging Winger for who they were 20 years ago - it's absurd. It's like hating DT because you don't like their singer, Chris Collins.

This.  Kip's solo album are very mature and creative, and Winger have been the real deal since Pull.  Great band, great song writer, and I'm looking forward to their new album later in this year hopefully.

People need to realise they are actually a very talented band.

The way to get around that is usually to start a new band.

Big difference being that DT never was known for Chris Collins, unlike Winger and hair metal.

Like I enjoy Whitesnake's earlier, bluesy work and I don't think it's that absurd that people associate them more (at least here in the US) with hair metal since that's what they were (in)famous here for.

Yeah, but what he meant is.... Bon Jovi, for example - because they came out a few years before Winger, were able to build up even more of a fanbase because they hit it when interest was at its peak.  But, 1988/ 89/90, people were getting tired of hair bands.  It was still popular, but it was the beginning of the end.... it only lasted until 1992....
