I didn't include anything from HTF because in all honesty I havn't listen to the song in almost two year, and I would have had some difficulty to know which were "notable" and worth a place there. I guess I should put "GODDAMN REGRET" in the list. Any other options I should add?

There's HTF, Home's sexy casino funtime extravaganza, not sure if the hypnotherapist counts from FF and Regression?, there's Goodnight Kiss (there are two sections, although the one behind the guitar solo is the prominent one), the intro of Sacrificed Sons with the news reports and voices, there's technically the self sampling during Octavarium: Intervals, there are the spoken apologies in Repentance, there's the JFK speech in AROP, am I forgotting any? :lol

I thought the point of a vote was to let us decide what one's were notable!

wasteland

Maybe those are a bit too many :D I'll just put the memorable ones (to me, but you have to accept the bias to avoid a blanket list with just a few votes on any option).

BlobVanDam

I don't see the point of a poll if it's already inherently biased. If I made this poll by that logic, I wouldn't have included SDV, since I've never even endured the song up until the apparent samples. :blob:

wasteland

Well, in this case I'll insert every sample people will declare would have voted. All the others will be assumed to have 0 preferences.

ariich

I would have thought it would be easier to include each song that has samples in it, rather than separately including 3 or 4 different samples from the same song.

That would have made it easier, but there are a number of songs, specially SDV, actually, that have many and diversed samples, and hence the separation.

yorost

You'll be hard pressed to get them all this way, though, and adding as you go won't get results you might be curious about. You might as well reset it with everything you need to add.

I agree on just putting the songs up there, though, much easier to ask which has the best samples. If you really wanted, after a week you could use that to single out individual samples and create a secondary poll.

ariich

Yeah, new options have been added, but most of the votes were before they were added.

I only voted for 6:00, but I didn't see we could vote 3 times. Eve and Take The Time.

Take the Time, BAI (Gibran :hefdaddy) and Honor Thy Father.

DebraKadabra

I think that whole section is worthy, to be honest.

Who voted for Home? :lol

Yeah, really... that's probably the only DT sample that I legitimately dislike. It's cheesy and does absolutely nothing good for the song imo

I did.  It serves a storytelling function, and does so perfectly.  We know what all of the main characters of the story are up to, without the lyrics having to spell it out.  I'll never understand the dislike for that section.

I don't dislike the sex sounds in Home, but I'd never call them the best DT sample ever, and the section where they appear is unnecessarily long anyway.

I'm agreeing with what I bolded.  However, I DO actively dislike the sex sounds - I understand it's supposed to be the "dialogue" for what's going on in the story but... come on, DT... we're all adults here, I think we KNOW what the end result of an affair is.  I am glad it's only one song out of many where things aren't left to your imagination.

I'd rather hear the sex in one song, than hear all of that wanking in every other song. Disgusting! :neverusethis:

This just seems backwards to me. :lol If we're adults shouldn't we be able to just let it be there without bothering us or letting is embarrass us?

DebraKadabra

I can agree to a point.  MY point is that, IMO, that kind of shit shouldn't be in a DT song.  Maybe I'm on a high horse about this, but also IMO it adds NOTHING to the song that wasn't already alluded to in the lyrics.

To me, it's exactly the opposite.  It's a case where I'm using my imagination to build a scene in my head of what's going on in the story instead of just being told.

DarkLord_Lalinc

I think SDV has the best use of samples within any DT song, with Honor Thy Father coming in on a close second place. Thing is, that SDV's samples serve for an incredibly dramatic build-up, which is something most DT samples fail to do. I mean, they're cool and everything, but SDV's use of samples serves a nice artistic purpose, instead of just filling in or because "they sounded cool!"
