I'd be proud of DT, but honestly it's the fanbase that we have to be proud of.  And even then, I'm not as "proud" of the fanbase as I am disgusted.

I don't understand how people can say it is because DT spam us to vote.  Metallica is literally doing just that, has 10 times the followers, and 100x the popularity in the first place, but lets not talk about that!

I swear if DT wins it will have a nice snide remark in the final post that says essentially "DT only won cause lolspamvoting but it was legal so there ya go i guess..."  ignoring that both Megadeth and Metallica solicited votes too.  It'll be like Rolling Stone all over again.

Well, most people in the US are just now getting up (~7am) so don't celebrate too soon.  The bright side is that west coast will get up right when the poll ends lol.

Yeah, the smack talking is really uncalled for. I get why some of the more ignorant Metallica fans manage to piss some people off (comments about Cliff Burton being more musically talented than all DT members are truly laughable and that ticked me off as well) but I would have preferred for DT fans to remain on the moral high ground. I would have also preferred it if DT didn't spam their Facebook page about this 7 times (compared to Metallica's 3 posts). The DT fanbase is dedicated and passionate enough to keep voting without constant reminders. The way the numbers have been fluctuating tells us that DT's votes have been accumulating at an almost constant rate over these past couple of days. The announcements didn't really do much it seems (other than the first one of course). However, whenever Metallica posted about this we saw short, concentrated surges of votes affecting the poll.

We would probably have won with only one or two announcements on Facebook to get everyone's attention, that's how dedicated the DT fanbase is. Now I'm betting some "puppets" will write this victory off as the result of DT "desperately spamming Facebook and Twitter" when in fact that's not the reason we won.

Oh well, I'm off to vote again. The fat lady has not started singing just yet.

Yeah I wouldn't usually care about that, I only said what I said because some Metallica fans that are not aware of how the votes have been accumulating will come to the conclusion that DT only cheesed their way to victory by begging for votes. Anyways, the important thing is that we know how and why DT won. 3M x (passion + dedication) > 30M
