Which is your favourite section of Illumination Theory?

For me it's a tough choice between II and IV, but at the moment I'm going with Live, Die, Kill :metal

Although The Embracing Circle is very beautiful.

And I'm including the Easter egg into the final section.

Lolzeez

Shoot,I clicked The Pursuit Of Truth but I meant Surrender,Trust & Passion.

I love the part that starts with "Mothers for their children"

James kills it on that part

and then I love the part that starts with

"To really feel the joy in life"

Very "The Spirit Carries On" like

These two parts are so amazing that I wish they were their own songs.

It would have worked out much better that way IMO.  Everything put together on that song sounds disjointed

Every part of the song is exceedingly awesome, but I voted IV. this time around.  The verse and chorus are so cool and full of personality.  JLB absolutely shreds.  And the instrumental section that follows is jaw-dropping.

I actually can't pick. I love the orchestra section, I love James with the whole "mothers for their children" part, I love the outro, I love the easter egg. Y U MAKE ME CHOOSE?

Thematt202

Definitely the last part.  The most epic thing they've done since Octavarium.

Tom Bombadil

JoiseyDTLovah

The Ferris Bueller section.

What, your'e still here???

I'm between II and IV... awesome parts

I Think I'm going to make and edited version of the song maybe just with those two parts to share with my "not into progressive/DT" friends.

I'm glad this question was asked.  What are the time stamps for each section?

Poor first section has no votes.

It does its job very well, which is to serve as an introduction and make the other parts more awesome.

I voted for IV. JLB's vocal performance there is the best I've heard from him in ages, and it stands out especially in comparison to the rest of the album where he is more reserved. A fantastic, spine-chilling moment, not only in the context of the song but also in the context of the whole album.

Something like this:

I. Paradoxe de la Lumière Noire (00:00)
II. Live, Die, Kill (03:40)
III. The Embracing Circle (07:09)
IV. The Pursuit of Truth (11:10)
V. Surrender, Trust & Passion (15:17)

Has to be The Pursuit of Truth. Seriously, highest LaBrie note since Octavarium (if I am not mistaken?) along with the sick groove and really cool instrumental section. Total badassery after following The Embracing Circle :metal

The Trooper

V hands down-to the most emotionally musical moment they have done.

Didn't he hit an A5 on BMUBMD? I'm not sure, though.

Voted for The Pursuit of Truth, but it is just a bit better than Live, Die, Kill. The part that starts "The bridges we build to connect" with Mangini and Petrucci synchronized made me laugh out of how good it was the first time I heard it.

Hmmm, this is tough! Here's my order:

1. III. The Embracing Circle (07:09)
2. II. Live, Die, Kill (03:40)
3. I. Paradoxe de la Lumière Noire (00:00)
4. V. Surrender, Trust & Passion (15:17)
5. IV. The Pursuit of Truth (11:10)

BlobVanDam

Easily The Embracing Circle (assuming that's the orchestral bit from the timestamps).
But I love it all except "Surrender, Trust & Passion".

Forgot about the screams in that song  You're probably right  Nevertheless! The F he hits in The Pursuit of Truth is amazing, it's about time James shows us that he's still got it  :metal

The Stray Seed

SeRoX

Section V just because this is the most intense vocal delivery from James since ACoS's Another World.

Ruba

After the first listen; Live, Die, Kill or The Pursuit of Truth.

matte.braso

Live, Die, Kill: best combination verse/chorus they've done in a while
