Awesome video, but is no-one else really annoyed with the way they edited the song? like a bar out here and there especially before the guitar solo.

Also the video nearly gives me motion sickness and epileptic fits every time i watch it with the amount of panning and flashing between animations and the band.

JayOctavarium

Horrible editing. I am SO glad the OTBOA vid is the full vid

NO, I HATE IT.

I hate the edits in the music video. You know what part annoys me the most? They cut the keyboard solo, but then just afterwards quite clearly show JR playing the final ascending run and bend of the solo! What a rock-tease. So that means they probably filmed the entire song, then did the shorter edit later on.

?

Like in the video for Take the Time, the way this song has been edited is really sloppy - the album version isn't a great song to begin with, but this edit is just unlistenable. Hopefully DT will continue to make videos for full-length versions of their songs, I'm glad OTBOA wasn't butchered.

wasteland

I have NEVER watched this video. :ontome:

should I?

Of course. You can't post in a thread about the CM music video without having seen the CM music video! :getoffmylawn:

But you could say the same about any DT music video.

?

^It's true that DT's videos have never been particularly great, but at least most of them have been made for songs that aren't mediocre and haven't been edited as sloppily, or at all.

They've released worse songs as singles (Lie), had worse edits (Take The Time), and released worse videos (OTBOA).

?

TTT is badly edited indeed, but I'd take Lie over CM any day, and I don't think OTBOA is notably worse than any other video they've released.

BlobVanDam

I'd take the sound of my own farts over Lie any day. And OTBOA is a pretty bad video, even for DT. The SC music videos were all decent to good, the BCASL ones were some of their best, but OTBOA was definitely a step backwards. The only consolation was that it was the full song.

MoraWintersoul

BCSL vids are their best vids definitely, from every standpoint. I prefer the IAW three though.

What the IaW vids may lack, they make up for in charm.

Yeah, totally! Plus the songs are damn good. I don't really like Wither or AROP much (in DT standards).

As if I didn't know your opinion on Lie... :P OTBOA does beat at least Hollow Years IMO, and I don't think the SC vids were that much better.

I think the Awake-era vids are the best - they look so badass in Lie, and I like the way they use the imagery of the Awake cover in TSM. The BC&SL ones are good on the DT scale, though - AROP looks cool and I like the atmosphere of the Wither video. Speaking of the latter, my friend said he once saw it on TV! :omg:

The I&W videos are really cheesy, but that's why they're so much fun to watch ;D

MoraWintersoul

The only vids I have seen on TV are PMU and AROP (VH1 Europe before it turned to a suckfest), and the ex-boyfriend has claimed seeing Lie on a local TV station when we were like 13-15, but since I watched a lot of that TV station too back then and I would remember seeing DT on it, I think he mistook it for some other video.

?

There's one music video channel in Finland (The Voice), but I haven't watched it in ages, so I've never seen a DT video on TV. They do play some metal, though - I remember seeing videos by Megadeth, Amorphis, Sonata Arctica and even Children of Bodom, plus obviously Nightwish on that channel, so I wouldn't be shocked if they played some shorter DT videos as well.

hefdaddy42

Yeah, the video isn't that great, but the song isn't that great either, so it's OK.

jonnybaxy

Take the time is rather a poor video too, all dressed like 80's porn stars or something and that really cheesy bit where KM and JP sing the backing lyrics back to back  :lol

KevShmev

Anything that makes this song shorter has to be a good thing.  In fact, the best edit would have been just keeping the main riff and the guitar solo.  Everything else in this song is :tdwn :tdwn.

Now that I think about it, CM could've been a decent instrumental that way :D

The chance of me being mistaken about a video I've gif'ed is rather tiny so I have to inform you I don't think there's a single frame that KM and JP share (except with split screens) ::)

Ħ

The only actually decent music video is Hollow Years, and even that one is lousy. DT is not a music video band, clearly. :lol

JayOctavarium

So watch DT completely blow us away with the video for the next single. :metal

Haven't they said no more 'music videos' since their target audience generally aren't the ones watching MTV/VH1/etc?
