I'd love to see Status Seeker live, one of my favorites from WDADU.  :tup

Yeah, too bad that many of the fans don't like it...

Not to brag, but I was fortunate enough to see them perform it on 2 occasions, and I gotta say that the version with the revised intro (as played in 1993) is much better IMO than the studio version (as played in 1988/89 and 2004).
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

So you saw them in '93 as well? :blob:

Yup. The show at Summerfest (in Milwaukee) was my first time seeing them, tho I'd been a fan for 4 years at that point and had met them 5 months earlier at a "music clinic" (an instore appearance with a 45 minute Q&A, JP playing guitar and autograph session).

This is very off topic... but

sometimes I feel that I am too obsessive or too big of a fan of DT... then I come here and I realize that some of you are 10x as bad as me. :)

It's funny that you mentioned the Milwaukee show. I was listening it in my car just a couple of hours ago.  :)

GasparXR

Status Seeker is awesome! As for the alternate intro, I prefer the original, but I love the alternate ending, which is why I love the WDADRU version.

Hayden

This is rapidly becoming a very retro setlist, I've noticed.

Scorpion

Except for BITS, the newest song is the Canadian Rap. :mehlin

robwebster

You're very welcome. (But it's actually The Root of All Evil.)

Think it's because people are going for rarities - a song they've played in the last few tours is less of an exciting addition than one they haven't - but it is becoming a little bit of a snoozefest.

dvargas

whoever took a mind beside itself and put stream of consciousness instead ?

that borders on irresponsible.

Metropolis, ACOS, LTL, ToT and BITS in one set and it's a snoozefest?  :rollin

God, yes! It's austere as hell! Space Dye Vest, Lines in the Sand, Trial of Tears, The Killing Hand, A Change of Seasons, Wait for Sleep - all good songs, well written, but where's the fun!?

I'm exaggerating. Take the Time's a good laugh, as is TROAE, and Don't Look Past Me, and Innocence Faded threatens to be, at points. But there's a very, very good reason songs like Constant Motion got so much live play.

wasteland

Yeah, to scare away fans like me  :lol (bottom #1 DT song for me!)

GasparXR

Well, guys, this round has come to an end! The result setlist is very different from the first one! (I accidentally clicked post too early, was supposed to wait until midnight, oops :sadpanda: )

Look at that! Only 4 songs remained from the original, and 2 of them are in different places. This of course means Octavaripolis is granted the honour of creating the first setlist of round 2! Whenever you're ready!

Everyone of course gets one turn this round, just like last round. Make sure to update the list of participants as you post.

Hayden

Should we allow another user to post a setlist if it takes more than a day for the rightful successor to do so?

wasteland

Yeah, Octavariopolis hasn't really been much active as of late. If he forfeits, remember that I have asked first :D

Hayden

?

If the new setlist will be one that has actually been played at some show, it should have lots of room for improvements, like this: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dream-theater/2005/beethovensaal-stuttgart-germany-4bd6d30e.html

Yes!

There are 2 more tracks to be changed out and this would make for  the ultimate set for me

JayOctavarium

Hell no.

Beyond This Life and Goodnight Kiss

and maybe change Hollow Years to the '09 version

I'd kill for that setlist.

MoraWintersoul

Oh God I would barely touch that. One of the rare things I'd do to it is stick SDV somewhere but it would be out of place in any place I'd like to replace. Can I say place one more time? PLACE.

Add Speak to Me in there? ;) It wasn't in the previous setlist at any point.
