I see they didn't have the balls to go with A Nightmare to Remember.

Kind on an ironic song choice for a car ad.

:lol
Very cool nevertheless, definitely made Acura cooler in my eyes. I don't know if the cars are rubbish, but at least someone working there has a good taste in music.

Everything in promotional materials is calculated for maximum effect.  The choice of colors, the camera angles, the placement of every item visible in the shot, and in this case, the song appearing in the display.  It does seem an odd choice.  Maybe the idea is to plant some image in your mind of driving this car while people walk next to you.  You're passing them.  You're in a cool car.  You're better than them.  You want to buy this car.  I don't know the reasoning, and yeah, someone working on the promo needs to have known the song exists in the first place, but it appearing in the shot wasn't chance.

I would guess it has more to do with the title giving an image of support.

What about Dream Theater?  Just a cool name or something they think people know enough to have an assosciation?  Attention to detail?  Technically advanced?  It can't be 'cool'?

Orbert

"I Walk Beside You" = support.  I like that.

And maybe "Dream Theater" was picked just because it sounds cool.  Or between the two (band name + song title) they had something that worked.

Dream, because they want sell the car as a total dream to drive. Theater, because it must be somewhat prestigious, yet a tiny bit mysterious.

The fact that Dream Theater had a song called I Walk Beside You is equally great for all of the above reasons.

2 things I feel comfortably sure of:

    1. They put the song in to symbolize some sort of emotional support. "We, as a company, stand behind our product. I (insert co. rep here) walk beside you"
    2. They had to give credit to Dream Theater. Dream Theater wrote and performed that song. They couldn't very well give credit to someone else. They'd risk legal action. I have no idea if the ad was a tv commercial or an ad in a magazine or what-have-you, but if it was on tv, likely the song was part of the ad.

Pretty simple, really.

And, on a personal note: I'm really glad the band is finally getting some much deserved exposure. RR has done great things for them.  :metal

Because the Acura's 5 star crash test rating.

"About to crash" would have been so much cooler.
