You'll see that my list is missing When Dream and Day Unite, Falling Into Infinity, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, and Train of Thought.  Haven't fully listened to all four.

WTF Deb! Fix that right now! The three bolded albums deserve your full cooperation!

I know... :blush

Um...getting hard to remember.  Best I can recall, it went like this:

I&W in '92

...(long break with listens to bits of Awake, ACOS, and FII, but not full albums)

SFAM
Awake
FII
SDOIT
...and then the rest in order as they were released (with WDADU sometime between TOT and Octavarium)

millahh

Starting in summer, 1995:
Awake
I&W
WDaDU
ACoS

From there, it's been the release date for each successive album.

Lucidity

Welp, the first I heard DT was Systematic Chaos, which was a bad introduction. At the time I couldn't tolerate anything remotely heavy, so I immediately gave up on DT. I tried listening to them on and off, but couldn't find anything I liked, really...

But I remember when Dramatic Turn came out and decided to give DT one last try... This turned it all around. I loved just about all of it, and it incited me to get Train of Thought, Scenes, and Six Degrees. Needless to say, after I was familiarized with those 4 albums, I was hooked.

Fell in love with Pull Me Under the first time I heard it on the radio...been a fan ever since and have listened to the albums in release order, with the exception of WDADU which I believe I gave my first full listen to only about 2 years ago.  Other than ToT (which slipped in unnoticed somehow) I have gotten each album right after release.

Polis

scenes from a memory, a year ago a friend told me about this funny opening of a guy talking to you and in the middle of the album the guy coming back.

octavarium
images and words
Six degrees
systematic chaos and awake
Black clouds
Train of thought
Falling into infinity
Dramatic and WDADU

I listened to all the albums (except ADTOE, obviously) for the first time in 2009. Sometimes I bought 2 albums at a time:

ACOS and BC&SL
I&W and Awake
Octa
Scenes
Degrees
Chaos
FII and TOT
WD&DU
ADTOE (upon its release)

Cable

I&W (disliked greatly at first)
FII (without this, I would have stopped @ I&w and written the band off)
SFAM
Awake
WDADU
6DOIT
...and all others fall within chronological release order.

DP_Gumby

If I remember right, it was something like this:

1. ToT
2. I&W
3. Awake
4. 6DOIT
5. FII
6. ACOS
7. SFAM
8. 8V
9. WDADU
10. SC
11. BC&SL
12. ADToE

When I was introduced to DT, I was given their whole discography. i tried to listen to their albums in order. I ended up skipping WDADU because I didn't like the sound of Charlie's voice. So I'd have to say the first album I listen to completely would be I&W.

Jaq

Went like this, excluding live albums because I don't remember the precise order of the last few:

Images And Words
Awake
ACoS
Falling Into Infinity
SFAM
WDADU
6DOIT
ToT
Octavarium
SC
BC&SL
ADTOE

Chronological except for WDADU, which I finally got around to buying in early 2000.

Jaffa

Systematic Chaos

Octavarium
Images and Words
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Scenes from a Memory
Falling Into Infinity
Train of Thought
Awake
Black Clouds and Silver Linings
When Dream and Day Unite
A Dramatic Turn of Events

Something like that.  I don't remember exactly, and I've probably listed a different order in a different thread, but this is as close as I can come at this point.

Trial of Thought

As far as I remember

- SDOIT

- BCSL
- I&W
- WDADU

nattmorker

I listened to DT for the first time in 2005, but it was just Endless Sacrifice and Instrumedley. But as far as full album goes it went like this:

- SC
- ToT
- SDoIT
- SFaM
- 8VM
- IaW
- ACoS
- FII
- WDADU
- BC&SL (It was the first album that came out when I was already a fan)

Having listened to IaW just before Awake, how was your reaction to it?

My reaction to Awake?  I was anticipating its release (like most fans were at that time) and expectations were high.  Wasn't sure what to think when I first heard 6:00, CIAW, and IF because they were so different and the whole album was much different for that matter.  But that's DT for ya and the album grew on me bigtime.  JLB was better than ever, JP was shredding as usual, and the one thing that's stuck with me even to this day......Awake has the best sounding snare drum out of any DT since then.

MetropolisWatches

Awake was the first DT album I ever checked out.

Podaar

*sigh*

I heard WDADU between ACOS and FII otherwise I've heard every album (including all live albums) on the day of release.

No, I'm not obsessed!

Really, I'm not.

VioletS16

All I know is BCASL was the first one I bought. I'm inclined to say SC was next, but I'm not completely positive.
