As I already told in the Newb Welcome thread, I adore Jordan more than any other musician in the world. I love all the stuff he does, whether it's his playing in DT, his iOS apps or his awesome solo stuff, like the extremely beautiful Notes on a Dream piano album for example. His playing has really inspired and influenced me, and he was the biggest reason for me to start playing the synthesizer too. He also made me realize how many awesome music things you can do with an iPad. And of course his YouTube channel is the coolest YouTube channel on the planet.  :metal

So yeah, really big appreciation.  :hefdaddy

Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5A_KiALmJMg and go to 5:53. That part sounds fucking amazing on the piano, which u cant really hear in the song

I love Jordan so much :D He's probably my favourite member if I had to pick one. He is extraordinarily talented and seems like a really fun and nice guy in real life. He can be wacky and creative as well as very emotional. So versatile :)

I think Jordan is the most musically talented member of the band. And that says A LOT  :tup
He also has the most badass facial hair out of all the band members  :metal

Your avatar of him is amazing. :rollin :tup
Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite
Basically Kyoko Kirigiri

Not only is JR easily the best keyboardist DT has had, and part of their two best albums (imo), but he's also the friendliest guy in the world too. It's impossible not to like the guy. :tup
And the reason SDOIT is my favourite album is because of JR's talents for composition and sound (along with the rest of the band of course). Absolutely untouchable.

He isn't my favorite keyboardist or pianist, but he is definitely a tremendous player, and he has been mostly a huge asset to the Dream Theater sound since joining the band. :tup :tup

Just out of curiosity, who is your favourite keyboard player? Kevin Moore?

No, probably Tony Banks, with Moore and Keith Emerson just below; Rudess would be in the next tier right after those guys.  Rudess might be number 1 if he didn't overplay as much as he does.

Agreed on the overplaying thing. However, to be fair, he has shown great improvement in ADTOE, which has none of the superfluous soloing from the previous 2 albums. (Octavarium is very controlled in terms of keyboard playing, which might have made him to go over the edge) I think ADTOE features wild keyboard playing without sounding wanky.
