Almostly completely OT:

but this the Portnoy pic reminds me of the time we caught my Mother-in-Law flashing one of these

:psychosane:

and we used it as the cover photo for her 50th birthday invitations.

I think the last time they truly gelled was during the masterpiece that is SDOIT.  So far, that has been the highpoint in their discography.  ADTOE could be considered a new beginning towards getting back that level of gelin'...

I think the band was really on a roll from 1999 "Scenes From A Memory" to 2003 "Train of Thought" before declining slightly...But I think with ADTOE the current time is a great time to be a fan. The band is definitely gelling again after a few good but inert albums in my opinion.

*snip*
(I'm so sorry. I couldn't not.)

I have a feeling that pic is gonna keep being trotted out for comedic purposes for a very long time

I think you're probably right.

lol

BTW, the last time they gelled was ADTOE.

I'd say 6 Degrees. I can't say ADTOE because it was written as a 4 piece. Maybe the next album.

I'll say that while TOT is not my favorite Dream Theater album, DT reached its peak as a live band on the TOT tour.

I'd say Octavarium though.
