I think it's supposed to say "guys"

Foo Fighters feel "bad" for winning the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Grammy.

The rockers picked up the trophy for their track "White Limo" - one of the five awards they took home on Sunday (12.02.12) - and whilst singer Dave Grohl had admitted it was the one he most wanted, he feel sorry for metal act Dream Theater, as their track was heavier.

Shortly after being announced as winners, Dave told MTV: "We got it! I feel so bad for the Dream Theater guy, because they actually had a metal performance. We didn't, but it's awesome."

Referring to "White Limo", he added: "That's kind of the coolest song we've ever written."

Dave added he was also happy most of the awards they were nominated for had been announced before they performed at the show.

He said: "It's kind of nice. Now we can just sit there and play and not worry about Grammys anymore. I think if we win them all, we look like d***s."

Drummer Taylor Hawkins was really excited about performing their version of "Rope" - seguing into the remix version by Deadmau5 halfway through - a one-off for the event.

He said: "It's so un-us, though, when you hear it that it's awesome."

It was mentioned in the grammy nomination thread or something, but it doesn't matter really. He actually said, "guy", but maybe he was drinking too much coffee.

Thanks for sharing.  I hadn't read this before.  Dave Grohl is a huge metal fan.

If you guys like underground metal, you should check out his metal side project called Probot.  Guest musicians from the underground including Cronos from Venom, Wino, King Diamond, etc.

Dave Grohl's a straight-up nigga--as a metalhead, he knows the combining of the metal and hard rock categories into one award is some bullshit.  Props to him.

El JoNNo

Did you censor both 's'(s) in ass but leave in the nigga? Is that what I'm reading lol

theseoafs

No, the "--" is supposed to be like a semicolon.

"they actually had a metal performance. We didn't," while that may be true, I think the bigger issue isn't whether the song was hard rock or metal. It's that it was far superior to anything Foo Fighters ever did.

Dude, no offense to Dream Theater, but I enjoyed Wasting Light more than ADTOE, and ADTOE is one of my favorite DT albums.
Seriously, Foo Fighters fuck shit up.

When on a buzz, I'm just like that. Fuck, I'm part-Dave Grohl.

ReaPsTA

I've heard that Grohl actually had to go to the hospital because he overloaded himself with coffee.

I have said it before.  Wasting Light is a fantastic album but they picked the worst song on the album for that catagory.

No offense to Foo Fighters, but I'd rather listen to Adrenaline Mob. Which is not an insult, frankly, I enjoyed Omerta, but I don't think either of them can stack up to DT. And yes, DT is Progressive Metal and not 'hard rock', but that pretty much makes it better by default.

But heck, even as far as the Grammy nominees go, I'd take Megadeth over Foo Fighters, Thirteen was a sick album.

Pretty much. :lol :lol

And On the Backs of Angels is better than Everlong?  Just, no.

In short, the Foo Fighters are good stuff.  :metal :metal

skydivingninja

Foo Fighters have put out some good stuff.  The song that won though was not a good one though.  However, with the confusing move of welding hard rock and metal together this year (the two were usually separate) and the Grammy tradition of making sure that the biggest bands get the awards like that, whether they deserved it or not, they were pretty much the only band that could win that category, even though Mastodon and Dream Theater were the most deserving in my opinion.  The FFs have countless Grammys.  Give 'em to some unsung heroes already!

PetFish

^^

Exactly.  What is ANOTHER Grammy or award gonna do for those who already have lots?  Nothing.  They should put a cap on how many you can earn in one year and/or over a career.

Everlong wasn't even the song nominated. But yes, I'll take OTBOA over Everlong. Hell, I'd take You Not Me over Everlong. I think Foo Fighters are fairly bland.

This, Wasting Light was a really great album.

The ridiculous tightness of Rope owns my soul every time I listen to it.

And yeah, when compared, Wasting Lights beats ADTOE.

SnakeEyes

If he felt that "bad" for DT, he would have said at the awards show, "sorry, we can't take this award.  DT had a metal song and we didn't.  We think they deserve it instead of us."  Saying it after the fact means nothing.
