The intro and outro of Raw Dog are whatever. I do really enjoy the middle section though.

Same here, it's what makes it. 1:05 to 3:44 is pure gold.

RuRoRul

#18 on my list I have to be precise.

Jarzombek

Metropolis Pt.1
A Change Of Seasons
Learning To Live
The Dance Of Eternity
Hell's Kitchen
Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence
Fatal Tragedy
Home
The Mirror
Trial Of Tears

DebraKadabra

#74
The only one I can actually rank is #1.

1 - Octavarium
THEN (in no particular order)
A Mind Beside Itself
Take The Time
To Live Forever
Lost Not Forgotten
Under A Glass Moon
These Walls
Repentance
Tenement Funster/Flick of the Wrist/Lily of the Valley
Breaking All Illusions

That was SO friggin hard.

Edit:  If the Queen covers aren't acceptable I can sub that one for something else.
Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite
Basically Kyoko Kirigiri

KevShmev

FYI, when I add these up, everything is counted individually, so if you want to see a favorite get a lot of votes, you might want to see how others are doing it first.

For example, one vote for Overture 1928 and one vote for Overture 1928/Strange Deja Vu is not considered two votes for Overture 1928; it is considered one vote for each as presented.  Same for In the Presence of Enemies, which so far has 3 votes for the song as a whole and 4 votes for just Part I.  Another example would be Through My Words/Fatal Tragedy, which will also be counted separately from the Fatal Tragedy votes.

If you want to change anything, have at it, but to give a heads-up, I have so far counted everything up until Rattlehead's list (near the end of page 2), so if you posted yours after that, it is fine, but if you are going back and changing your list that was presented before Rattlehead's, and you want the voting to reflect your changes, PM me your exact change and I will adjust it.  I am not going back and recounting most of the first two pages again. :)

Welcome!

I've noticed many people have These Walls in their top 10. I don't get all the love for it.

Scorpion

Welcome!

Your taste is... acceptable.  :)

5. The Mirror (most oddball pick I suppose. Not even with Lie, I just love The Mirror)

Very good pick  :tup it's in my top 10 as well, I think we are among a small minority though. If I recall correctly only one other person listed it besides us.

Endless Sacrifice (yes... really)

Nothing wrong with that... it's in my top 10 as well. Does this song not get the love it deserves on this forum?  :P

From what I've gathered, many people dislike it because of the instrumental section supposedly ruining the feeling of the rest of the song or something? I dunno, I've always liked it as well, though it wouldn't make my Top 10.

54_diplomats

I'm really surprised at how many people listed These Walls, it really is a great song. It's not in my top 10 but it's damn close.

tofee35

I never thought about it. No order. Here it goes:

Blind Faith
The Glass Prison
The Count of Tuscany
Beyond This Life (especially the Budokan version)
In the Name of God
Solitary Shell
Bridges in the Sky
Caught in a Web
A Change of Seasons
Disappear

I was on the line between this and "In the Name of God" on my list. Depending on my mood, I could go either way. The bass line in the instrumental section is killer.

1.  Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
2.  A Change of Seasons
3.  Octavarium
4.  Metropolis
5.  Bridges In The Sky
6.  Outcry
7.  Learning To Live
8.  Lines In The Sand
9.  Beneath The Surface
10.  Home

I hesitate to add anything from ADTOE.  Since it is still the latest album, the "new factor" is still present, despite the fact that the album has been out for over a year now.  But I can honestly say that the three I added are top 10right now anyway.  The three that got bumped are:  Scarred, The Mirror, and Trial of Tears.
9.  Home

Scorpion

I find your lack of Trial of Tears disturbing.

bosk1

I don't.  I find that as hard as I have to struggle in eliminating songs to do even a top 50 pretty awesome!

Scorpion

Yeah, I know, it's just that I have just watched Star Wars and that, coupled with the fact that I'm currently listening to Trial of Tears and your avatar made this quote impossible to resist. :P

1. Metropolis Pt.1

Same here... now that I look at my top 10 list I feel like I should've put In The Name of God on there instead of another because I'm obsessed with that song too... oh well it's not like my top 10 is set in stone  :lol. I just love DT so much it's too hard to make a top 10 list, when it comes down to those last few choices it's like having to pick a favorite parent when both of them are amazing people that you love for different reasons. Regardless, I like the idea of the thread though and still find it very interesting to see everyone else's top 10.  :tup

That's interesting because I love the instrumental section (as I love everything about the song), isn't this the kind of thing that drew most of us to DT anyway? Cheers to a fellow Endless Sacrifice fan though  it seems the song is underrated here.

And I won't go after your sister either.  How's that for starters?

Am I the only one who find it very important to mention that their top 10 list is ever changing? Or does everybody's list is truly constant? I can never have a constant top whatever-number for my favorite bands.
This is my list again in a count down to favorite style:

10. Raw Dog
09. The Count of Tuscany
08. In The Presence of Enemies
07. The Glass Prison
06. The Root of All Evil
05. Fatal Tragedy
04. Breaking All Illusions
03. The Dance of Eternity
02. Bridges in The Sky
01. Metropolis

I think my only constant ever is gonna be Metropolis being a top 3 song. I'm wondering if BiTS will age as nicely, probably will.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I will say that mine stays fairly constant.  Songs may fluctuate up or down a few spots, but other than that, my top 10 has stayed fairly constant for a long time.  To me, it was a pretty big deal that three new songs are in the top 10 now.

BTW, pretty interesting list.  Yours definitely does not follow that of the typical fan.

There were almost as many more songs I could just as easily have substituted in any other day, but for today, that's my list. :tup

Like a few people, I don't really have a top ten, but without looking at their discography here are ten pretty cool songs. A few of them I've really been digging lately, a few that I've always loved and always will, and a few legacy choices that I don't really listen to that much, but they've been so important to me in the past that I can't not list them.
No, you're not!

I think most people do their top ranking in respects to the quality of the songs over one another, if I do that I might actually have an 80% constant list. I make my lists according to how I feel about the songs right now, how I am connecting to them now, if I list a top 10 you can bet these are songs I'm currently listening to at least on weekly basis.

That's definitely awesome to hear from someone who's been a fan since I&W era. ADToE truly is such an amazing record :metal

My list has stayed pretty solid as well until ADTOE.  It was the first album in a while to just knock some of my favorites down a few notches.
