Falling Into Infinity vs. Porcupine Tree's Stupid Dream

I know, kill me. I'm adding to the versus fire.

Falling Into Infinity is highly underrated in the community and the album itself has songs on it that producers wanted to become radio hits or told DT to make radio-friendly songs. It also was released at a time where the band was struggling with record companies.

Stupid Dream has songs on it that, whether intentional or not, would sound good on the radio and has some catchy songs on it. The album has a lot of references to the music industry and the title refers to it.

Which one would DTF rather listen to? Sorry if this doesn't even belong in the DT section

I too went with Stupid Dream. I like all of the songs on it and it never feels forced or out of place, it just feels natural and flows. And SD has A Smart Kid

SD by a little bit, neither are some of my fave albums by either band though. (Each have a couple fillers imo)

I haven't listened to Stupid Dream, therefore can't possibly enjoy it more than FII, which I have heard. Plus, I'm yet to hear any full PT album that I enjoy more than a full DT album.

Stupid Dream is definitely more consistent, but I think FII's highs are better than anything from Stupid Dream (New Millennium, Hell's Kitchen/Lines in the Sand, Trial of Tears)

This poll is more interesting than what it seems.

For me PT's Stupid Dream is DT's Falling Into Infinity, an attempt for a more commercial sound. Both albums were great but never hit that commercial success that was expected out of them. Stupid Dream has MANY songs that could have easily made it on to the radio. DT's FII has a few songs that could of made it but eventually failed at that.

Personally, I think FII is very underrated, and if the label would of released the 2CD version, it would probably be one of my top 3. There are some hidden gems on the FII demos and unfortunately, we will never get to hear them with the sonic perfection that FII is (at least for me). Stupid Dream on the other hand is one of my favorite PT albums. A Smart Kid gives me the chills everytime I hear it and I haven't lost that feeling since the first time I heard it. Same for Stop Swimming and Don't Hate Me. Trial of Tears, Lines in the Sand, and Hell's Kitchen give me the chills also, but don't know if I overplayed FII or not, but that feeling has been less and less everytime I hear it.

One thing I know is that both albums were great for me. They gave me some hours were I would just forget about everything outside and I would feel the music and not think about anything else.
