I'd probably do the same thing lol. Even though it won't fit.....CD's can only hold 78:59 of music.

The last time I burned an 80 min cdr, it gave me a maximum content limit of 79:57, and I used just about all of it, and it worked fine.

Otherwise, you could cut out the wind effects between ITPOE 1&2 and cross fade the outro/intro to cut the total time down to an even 25 minutes, plus the sound effects at the end of TCOT could be trimmed down a bit.  The end of BAI could be pruned a bit too since on this compilation, it would not fade into Beneath the Surface. 

So either way, it could still work.

Not true, I've over-burned standard CD-r's up to 81:30 before and they worked perfectly fine for me.

They can work, but they're not guaranteed to, and they don't follow the redbook audio standard (or whatever it is) for releasing an official audio CD.
