It's dumb how he's attacking Dream Theater fans that reply to him in a civil manner. Personally hating a band is one thing, but acting like others can't even enjoy that band is another. He's an asshole.

Ryzee

I remember an article with the dudes from Blind Melon in Guitar World back in 93 or so where they were bashing on a bunch of popular shredders at the time (Bettencourt, Satch, Vai, etc.).  After reading Coz's post, I now see that apparently trashing players who are better than them was kind of their thing at that time!  How extremely lame!

Oh, and regarding Wes Whazhizname's comments: trololo, yawn, who?, hatersgonnahate, etc.

"Please explain to me what there is to like about Dream Theatre. Please. I accept your challenge. Maybe"

Challenge accepted.
What an utter moron. Needs to learn to keep his opinion to himself, not that I really care about it much - it's kind of fitting how his side project is called: "Big Dumb Face" though.
Before he starts slamming other artists he needs to make a half decent album himself. /rant

Basically, if someone doesn't like a band because that style isn't their thing, I can accept that.

When you attack an artist for putting in the time and honing their craft though, it just comes off as petty, childish, jealous, and uneducated. It reeks of pride in ignorance; lashing out at someone because they're more skilled than you are. It would be like attacking a painter for using more than primary colors, or a director for going to film school.

The Blind Melon interview certainly gives a new context to the dig at Shannon Hoon on FII.  :lol

I have a feeling he's trolling us.  I've met Wes several times and one of my good friends is DJ Lethal's tech.  Wes is actually really nice and also one of the most elitist musicians out there.  He's actually a very good guitar player too believe it or not.

Either way, still not cool at all.

The Letter M

Wes who?

Is he related to Al Borland?

Case in point - Musicians who like good music by great musicians know Dream Theater. People who like Limp Bizkit don't admit to liking Limp Bizkit anymore. Also, they cannot spell "Biscuit" or "Dream Theater" very well.

Mladen

Now wait a minute, guys!

That's not how it is.

This guy is dissing Dream Theatre, apparently. Not Dream Theater. You must be confused.

Flacracker

I didn't know who this was. I saw Limp Bizkit in the title. I laughed.

wolfking

Pretty immature to bash a band publicly with no provoking at all.  Never cared for the guy as a guitar player anyway., no love lost.

Who the hell is Bes Worland? Screw it! I'm not even going to do a GOOGLE search on him.

If you read the article, it reads "Limp Bizkit guitarrist" on the top.

You don't even have to read the article. Just look at the link.

And regardless of his popularity, I wouldn't care about the opinion of someone in a different genre, especially one from such a short lived and extremely dated genre, who has only displayed a fraction of the longevity of DT.

Not only that But Every Damn Limp Bizkit album is damn near IDENTICAL. Plus they only have two songs.

Songs about f*king

Songs about Limp Bizkit.

Any band that high fives for using 50 F words in the one song needs to die.

How mad does it get you shedders that I was a sculptor/painter going to art school and then just happened to make it as a guitar player? ;)

I replied :

Quote from: KotowDaveIt's Hilarious that you consider yourself a guitar player

COREY TAYLOR had this to say :

@KotowDave @wesborland I'm sorry, but if you don't see Wes's talent, it's your loss. Next case.

Wes has retweeted me now and Corey Taylor has replied a few times

Kotowboy

Corey is being really nice. He's a dude IMO

I thought I would add my two cents on the whole deal. Sent this to Borland:

"John Petrucci's guitar playing, talent, and style >>>>>>>>> your talent and style --- #notevenclose"

Not to mention down to earth attitude and appreciation for other bands. Not to mention, not attacking fans of other bands unprovoked and not saying anything bad about anyone. [ While Portnoy bashed him in the press . ]

Shadow2222

The only props I will give Wes Borland is for when he played with X Japan (briefly). Thank god that wasn't permanent, because the guy seems like a real ass.

Tweeted (as Shadowmaster2345) "I am a Dream Theater fan and am not a fan of Limp Bizkit. However, I will not insult/badmouth Limp Bizkit. #KeepOpinionsToSelf"

You just can't fit that into 140 characters, so I had to go with the shortened, and rather blunt, version.

Kotowboy

There's no reason to bash Limp Bizkit. Their last album sold so poorly, we can hold our heads high.

Tis BOOLsheet

Limp Bizkit is to be taken as seriously as Nickelback.

The funny thing is, when this has happened before, the guys in DT and JP in particular have always been so classy never even to bother to respond to it (as far as I know) in confrontational ways. Funny how guys who never talk shit about anyone else and just work on their craft seem to attract negative comments from other musicians who talk shit and don't have a whole lot to show.

They're much classier guys than I am.

robwebster

Wes actually seems like quite a nice bloke on twitter.

"What did I learn today: 1. I'm a terrible guitar player. 2. I'm a talentless hack. 3. I have no soul. 4. I've yet to write a good song. Oh, and I also just learned that I suck donkey dick. Maybe that's why my mouth tastes so weird.

"My good friend @TimHMusic LOVES dream theater. Next time I see him, I'm sure he'll kick me in the nuts for all of you."

Then, a conversation...

Wes: "Oh, come on, now I'm just being a jerk for fun.... I know I can't play like petrucci. I have to wear costumes to sound good"
DT Fan: "lol, how are limp bizkit record sales?"
Wes: "not that great! Thanks for asking"

I think he might be taking it in better humour than half the Dream Theater fans - and he wrote the music that's being bashed on his side! To his credit that he's as happy to take shit as to distribute it. Then again, I suppose you have to be if you're the guitarist for Limp Bizkit.

I did however really enjoy this:

Thank you Rob. That's an even bigger compliment coming from you.

SystematicThought

It is sad what he said but, I agree with Rob. DT fans are taking it way more seriously than he is
