Great show.

Met Jordan before the show!!!  He was walking in front of the theater!  He liked my iPhone case because it looks like a cassette tape.  Met up with this guy from India before the show (also met people from brazil!) and again after the show and went and had a beer.  International concert!

Some of James's best jibba jabba yet.  I believe it was after the second song he said the typical "how you doing" and then said Chicago is always a highlight of the tour and that it typically comes down to two cities, Manhattan and Chicago that are the best crowds.

THEN HE SAID...

"Well we're going to play about 2 hours worth of material so I hope you're ready....they locked the doors so you can't leave.  Even if we suck up here, you're stuck watching....but we'll give you refunds.  Ok, no we won't.  I don't have the authority to make that decision.  Anyway, I'm going stop talking so we can get on with the show!"

I was 8th row center but his vocals weren't that loud for me so I had trouble hearing him but he was definitely on fire.  A lot of improvising some lyrical melodies.  Lots of screams.  Sounded like he hit every note but again, kinda hard for me to hear.

And he also said that after this tour, they're going to start working on the new album. :metal

How long before the show was he walking outside the theater?

Hell yea. I bet they can get a lot of writing done before they go to South America in August.

I was in the balcony, near the last row. Hey, don't judge, the tickets were cheap. :P

Couldn't have asked for a better first Dream Theater concert.

I had pretty good seats (main floor, just right of the stage, back four rows) but ended up sitting back a bit further when DT got on stage (my friend had a few open seats around him so I sat there).  Good show and happy that they played Metropolis Pt. 1 :D

Was the balcony pretty full?  The floor was.

Show started at 7:30... I'd say it was around 3:30 or 4....

They moved people to the floor. One of my friends had seat in the back row of the balcony, but when he got up there, an usher gave him a new ticket on the new floor since he was alone.

That is so cool!  :tup

I haven't seen a concert in years.  As much as I love live music, I just can't justify the time or the cash, not with our financial situation sucking the way it does.  (Actually Splent, if I'm not mistaken, the last band I saw live was Gende's Giant that night I met you briefly.)

If I'd known that the Crimson Projekt was also going to be playing... well, I probably just would've been more miserable, and still not have gone.  As it turns out, I was pretty busy this weekend playing music, so it was a good weekend after all.  Sucks that DT comes to Chicago and I can't see them.

There was no drum solo.

There was a pretty kickass five second drum intro to Fortune in Lies though

Great show as usual. I was telling my buddy a few days before the concert that maybe we should have skipped this one, since we had seen them 4 times already since SC came out. I was thinking I didn't want to "wear" out the thrill of seeing them to much. Boy, that thought quickly changed after the beginning of BiTS. Awesome concert as always, Mangini's energy is infectious, you can see how much his energy influences the rest of the band. Can't wait for a DVD from this tour.
