Rank the DT albums.

I wouldn't be able to list all the albums as I really don't care too much for any of the releases (not including ADTOE) post-Octavarium.

My favourite album for a very long time was Six Degrees, but upon revisiting their catalogue lately I'd have to say that Scenes from a Memory is probably the best thing they have ever put out, for so many reasons. I'm a big fan of Train of Thought as it was the first album I really listened to, and there are some songs on Octavarium that I really enjoy and link fond memories with, and probably surprising to some, I rate FII very highly too.

Sorry...been a hardcore fanboy since '92, and I never heard a crappy song on 8VM.     Best album they ever did.  Masterpiece note for note.  Blows Awake, SFAM and IAW out of the water.  (but not by much)    It's probably right up there with DSOTM and Hemispheres in my book.

I drifted away from DT after Change of Seasons was released and only came back with ADTOE so I've still got a lot of catching up to do.

One thing I'm learning from perusing these lists: I need to give 6 Degrees a closer listen. I'm having a really hard time getting into it.

Yeah, Octavarium is ranked too low for many people, IMO. I can understand not liking Never Enough much, but I can't understand the hate for TALW and IWBY.

It took me quite a while to get into 6DOIT as well. After it clicked, though, it was clear to me that it's one of DT's best albums.

I'd be curious to know something.   

It's my understanding that not liking Never Enough is mostly tied to it sounding like Muse.   It leads me to wonder if I love it because I never heard a single note from Muse until a few years after the release of Octavarium.   As a matter of fact, I never even heard a single Muse song until the ending credits of The Tourist.   

The fact that I never heard Muse, along with the fact that I was once in a relationship that was very much like the lyrics...  Well, let's just say *I LOVE* Never Enough.

i'll bite.  i'm new to the forum, and have seen numerous references to blob hating awake.  sorry to get off topic, but what gives blob?  you seem to be really into all the other albums.  how does one recording get disliked so much when you hold the rest in such high reguard?

To be fair DT's entire catalog is excellent. The *only* two albums I tend to shrug my shoulders at are Train of Thought and Systematic Chaos. I only place Octavarium low on my list because Sacrified Sons and Octavarium are lacklusters comparable to SC and Train of Thought.
