I&W.Not in 1992 but ten years later, around 2002-2003.A classmate of mine kept telling me how good players they were so I borrowed a friend's copy of I&W.I couldn't believe how great of a song PMU was.A funny thing that I remember is that when I listened at Metropolis' instrumental section, for some reason it reminded me of Jumping Flash, from PSone.Does anyone remember it?

SFAM back in 2004. That's when my music taste drastically changed for good.

I&W, 2001. The owner of my local music store suggested it to me, as i was unsure with which of their album i should start.
A couple of hours later i thought i should have to come back to Diego and thanks him so much...

Same here! Only that it was in 2007, and not the same album. Anyway, DT saved me from mainstream hell.

An Evening with JP and JR, purchased after my buddy commented that if JP had been born 10 years earlier, no one would give a rats ass about Eddie Van Halen.  That, I had to check out.

ToT back in '04!

;D There was just nothing quite like anticipating Octavarium. Good times.

Six Degrees and I still have a soft spot for it even though Images and Words is probably my favourite  :D

This is my first post.  How fitting to discuss ones introduction to Dream Theater.  I bought a compilation "rock" album of mixed artists when I was a kid and one of the songs was "The Killing Hand", I used to listen to it on my sony walkman and couldnt believe how good it was.  I didnt play the drums back then but could still appreciate the complexity of the song as a whole.  So that was 1988 and it has been a hell of a ride since...

Welcome.

You probably remember wrong or it's a version of TKH I don't know, because WDADU was released in 1989.

This. More specifically, the Live at Budokan concert CDs and DVD which then led to purchasing (almost) every piece of the DT discography.

It was recorded in 1988, though.  It could have been on a promotional disc.

A friend of mine gave me Train of Thought around August 2004, just before I went to high school for my freshman year.  At the time I was really into shitty generic metal, and ToT blew my mind.  I actually hated Labrie's voice, but loved the instrumentals.

Eventually, Labire's voice really grew on me, and ToT was pretty much the only thing I listened to for about 8 months....this was back when you had a Walkman and a case full of CDs, not 1000s of songs on an mp3 player or a phone.  I never felt like bringing the case of CDs with me, so I contentedly listened to ToT almost exclusively.

It's also funny that only when ToT started to get old did I actually check out the rest of DT's catalog

I had a chance to get on board this bus in 1992, when a buddy handed me Images and Words.  However, I was on a huge Dire straits binge at the time and wasn't making any room for that.  /regret mode enabled.

My college roomie burned me SFAM in 2003 but I never gave it enough of a chance. Then he made me listen to The Glass Prison and I immediately went out and bought SDOIT. Technically it was SFAM but got hooked on Six Degrees first!

Systematic Chaos, which might be the reason why I'm the only person in the world who loves it.
