Yeah I listen to it. It's an awesome song, DT showing they can master the short nu-metal song just as well as epics.

I am still listening to it, it is one of my favorites ;D

I'm actually listening to it right now because of this thread  :lol It's a decent song but I don't listen to it very often... but I do like Systematic Chaos a lot, I think it's very underrated here  :tup

Cedar redaC

Not my favorite song, but seeing this was one of my first real exposures to Dream Theater.

After that, I knew that I had to know more about this band.

Yep, I agree with you mate, songs such as Forsaken, Constant Motion, The Ministry of Lost Souls and The Dark Eternal Night make this album one of my fav's

VioletS16

Last time I listened to it was when I was listening to all of SC. Really the only two songs on that album that I really cannot take are TDEN and CM.

It's not bad, but I don't listen to it anymore unless I'm listening to SC as a whole (which is rare anyway).

wolfandwolfandwolf

Only the studio version because WHHWHHHHYYYYY HAAAVE COOOME FOR YEEWWW

Scorpion

It's not a standout track, but it's not bad either. When it comes up on shuffle, I don't skip it.

Give yourself WUUUUP to me!

Ben_Jamin

I enjoy it, but don't listen to it that often.

Slain

Once and a while, but I skip it most of the time.

I hadn't heard it in awhile but it came up on shuffle the other day and I rocked out.  It's a good little song.

The Dark Master

I haven't listened to Systematic Chaos in quite a while, but when I do, Forsaken is one of the stand out tracks for me.  Great song, amazing solo, excellent piano from Jordan, and the music video was awesome too.  Up until OTBOA came out, it was easily my favourite single from the Roadrunner era.   :metal

Not bad for an Evanescence ripoff.

That's just ridiculous.  Please re-read the forum rules.  Contructive criticism and tactful expressiong of dislike is fine, but comments like that are not.

commanderbob

It's cheesy 80's butt-rock. The solo's good, though.

Way to go.  And only one post after a warning for pulling the same nonsense.  See you in a week.  Hopefully, you learn your lesson after that so we don't have to make this permanent.

Dublagent66

I've always liked Forsaken but haven't heard it in a while.  Might be nice to take a trip down memory lane.

IMO, he got a week-long ban for saying the same thing some others have said where the others used bigger words. For instance, one person called it "unimaginative and boring" where he called it "butt-rock" (which stands for unimaginative and boring rock music).

wolfandwolfandwolf

He even commented that the solo was good.  There was a positive there.

Implode

I've never really liked this song, and for the longest time I couldn't figure out why. However, one day I just had everything on shuffle and the instrumental version came on. I thought, "Hey! This song is kind of good! What song is this?" Then I looked.

Now I know that it's the vocals that ruins the song for me.

Zook

Calling it butt-rock was ok. It was the 80s cheese comment that crossed the line.

slycordinator

To be fair, he called it cheesy not cheese; there's a difference in that called it cheese might imply that the song is universally bad. And as mentioned, he pointed out something about the song he did like so he wasn't even being only negative...

TAC

Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

I disagree with your opinion of cheese.

Just look at my statement as the difference between saying "you're being childish" vs "you are a child." Neither are compliments, but the latter is worse and imo you replaced his statement of "cheesy" with a somewhat worse statement of calling it "cheese."

darkshade

Only when I listen to Systematic Chaos straight through.

TJPNET

Yes I do. It's a great straight-forward rocker, despite the Twilight lyrics. When they played it here in Salt Lake City during the recent tour, it was very well received, probably second only to Fatal Tragedy.
