Even DT themselves have compared it to TDOE. I don't really hear it though.
It's not so much a similarity in sound as it is in technicality and complexity. And in that respect, they're right. It's probably the most complex instrumental we've seen from them since TDOE (though this is mostly subjective).

That's all I meant. I've only heard anyone compare them because they're both complex. But I don't think Outcry is that complex (relatively speaking, of course).

This.

My vote goes to TDOE. JR's crazy rag-time solo is one of my favourite DT moments

Outcry is still a cool song, though I don't get why they incorporated those ear-piercing basketball sounds in the intro. Reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPmfbhVGbIQ  :lol

Critics have been comparing Outcry to The Dance of Eternity since ADTOE's release.
These two songs are just as similar as Learning to Live with The Dark Eternal Night.

Thats a good point. It's like comparing apples to oranges. One is an instrumental, the other one has an instrumental section. Using the above quote, a better question may be; instrumental sections of TDEN vs. Outcry. I'm just saying..... :metal

You will probably change your mind once you see DT play Outcry live.

Unless they play it entirely differently, then probably not. ;)

Yeah, I'm going with Outcry, TDEN has nothing on that chorus.
I love that part  :metal

The Dance of Eternity. It's more coherent, the Outcry instrumental just hasn't clicked yet.

I love Outcry but better than TDoE?  Not for me.  TDoE is one of my all time favorite songs so it's not a knock on Outcry at all.  I just like TDoE more.
I'm actually pretty shocked that Outcry is winning the poll.

TDOE. I've never really gotten what's so crazy about Outcry. Sounds like standard DT to me, whereas TDOE screams "radical" from beginning to end. It is the definitive crazy DT song, and Outcry doesn't come close to it.

THIS. I still don't get what's so crazy about Outcry. I mean, I like the song. But the instrumental section is pretty normal for DT. TDOE all the way.

Evatallica

I love The Dance and all, but Outcry had so much more to it, plus I love James' voice on Outcry :)

For me it is definetely one of the hardest DT songs to play along with Lost not Forgotten, Endless Sacrifice, TDOE and Blind Faith.

On what instrument?

Tumdace

I would almost give it to Outcry if it were for the crazy time signature changes near the end of TDOE. That part always brings a smile to my face.

GunsOfThePatriots

You people are crazy

outcry better than TDOE .  ???

coffees for closers

I love both songs, but I took the question literally. "Which is more radical" meaning extreme, different from the norm, and I think Dance of Eternity is way more radical as a whole song then Outcry. I could see Outcry on Liquid Metal or Boneyard, but Dance of E you would never hear on the radio. Why you ask, because it is too RADICAL.

Exactly the question was not which one is better. DoE is way more Rad.

Guitalguy

As whole songs, Outcry by far. Counting only the wild instrumental parts, The Dance of Eternity.

That's not what I meant by the question, since I asked "which do you prefer?" in the OP.

The poll title is which is more Radical, but whatever. DOE is more Radical and I like it better, but OUtcry is still awesome.
