It's certainly on the decline. I still bust out the drums from time to time, but I got way too good at everything else to the point where it's just boring.

I guess the only appeal of the drums is that I don't own a real drum set and that's the closest I can get. Anything else, I'd rather be playing my real instruments.

I hope to God it's You Not Me. I consider it an epic.
Yeah, it certainly fits the "fan favorite" description as well.

If it ain't Status Seeker I'll be saving $60.

Sigh. We all know it's going to be something predictable like OTBOA. But, I would absolutely die if they decide to put either This Dying Soul, The Dance of Eternity or The Glass Prison. One can dream...

Sketchy

If it was Breaking All Illusions, it would be hillarious.

I hope you're being serious. I really think it would be a ton of fun to play on RB.

I think most songs would be fun to play.  The main obstacle is JR's soloing; do you play nothing there, or do you force that onto the guitar?

lol @ the thought of LNF or Outcry's solo sections being on RB.

Rock Band 3 has keyboard so JR's part on whatever song it is will be available to play.

Ok... I really hope it's outcry, breaking all illusions or lost not forgotten then.

Rock Band has keyboards now, which you play just like any other keyboard

Metropolis Pt. 1 would be the best song to come out, I think. Pro Guitar would be able to be supported (since it's a 6-string guitar song in standard tuning). Pro Bass, I don't think so, doesn't Myung use a 5-string on it? Harmonies, well yeah (WITHOUT SOOOOOOOOOOORROOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW)

Besides, it would have solos for every instrument. One guitar, one for bass, one for drums (I think some of the fills right before the bass solo can be considered a drum solo), one unison and one for keyboards. Some of those are a bit up in the air, though.

weezul

no 5 strings on I&W if memory and ears serve...
It must take them quite a while to chart out a dream theater song, my flatmate has a friend who works for Sony and for a while he was doing charts for these games, I forget exactly which ones. Seems like a damn fun job though

ishak540m

I think people would fall over dead if they had to play the instrumental intro to LNF.  How the hell do you sweeps on a rock band guitar?

Descending sweeps: OBYRG
Ascending sweeps: GRYBO

As for hitting them, a whole lotta spam. I can hit descending ones fine, now ascending, ugh.

I was big into Guitar Hero and Rock Band but its lost its fun. I still play drums once in a while. I remember back in the day there was possible talks of getting a lot more DT songs on to Rock Band but that never happened.

I'm betting all my money on On the Backs of Angels.

atalkingfish

People on the Rock Band forums are expecting this to happen either this week or next. I wasn't around these forums for this thread to happen, but I'm currently going through possible songs for DLC to get my hype up for the next week or so.

I would still be playing my game like a drooling lunatic every day of my life...if my game system wouldn't of died.   I swear, Microsoft should just *GIVE* me a system considering all the money I would've spent *IF IT HAD BEEN WORKING*....

My video chip...DIED....   No red ring of death...just no picture.   I have audio, but no picture.   I tried those OL replacement of the gray goo that heat protects the chip (thus voiding my warranty)...no dice.

I am the proud owner of a $300 paperweight.

Pisses me off too.  I absolutely LOVE that game.   I'm not a gamer, I don't play any other game.  I only played Rock Band, and I played it several hours a day every day.

No, he played a 4-string Spector on that song.

Shadow2222

It was announced!

You can get it alone for $2 on your respective system, or in the pack for $5.49 on November 29.

Roadrunner Records Pack 02
- Dream Theater: On the Backs of Angels
- Trivium: In Waves
- Opeth: Ghosts of Perdition

Thanks for the news.
This choice doesn't surprise me at all. Exactly what I expected.

Shadow2222

I forgot to mention that it will have a pro upgrade available as well (for those that use it).

Also, this is the first DT song in any of the games that will have keyboard support.

Benedettosoxfan

I'm a tad bit disappointed that they went with the obvious choice, but all that matters is that DT is back in Rock Band. And, Opeth is FINALLY in a game. Today is a good day.

I struggle to comprehend how the piano solo would work.

Millais

including the best song Opeth have ever written. wonderful news!  :metal

Holy. Crap. Ghost of Perdition on Rock Band??? Wow...just...wow...this is a monumental day in history, folks!

jcmistat

Going to have to get it and play it, Rock Band has been dead for a while.

Slain

The keyboard parts in OTBoA are going to be killer in Rock Band 3.
