Now that we have two set lists, which do you prefer?

Set A (Warfield, San Francisco)
35 (18.9%)
Set B (Nokia, Los Angeles)

No preference between the two, at all.  It does make me quite happy that I'll be seeing three shows in a row, though.  Hopefully there'll be a C setlist, as well.

You can leave both Beneath the Surface and Breaking All Illusions into any set, and I'll be a happy camper.

this is what i want.  just throw outcry, tcot, tsco, 8ve in as well and we're all good.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.  UAGM seemed like an odd encore choice to me, but Pull Me Under seems downright weird.
Why?  They've used PMU as an encore many times in the past.

exacty why its weird.  HOW MANY MORE TIMES TO DO NEED TO SEE PMU????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another_Won

I would vote for "B" it just makes more sense.  However, at a live show I would mix the two.  I think that BAI needs to be in there but for an encore either one of the two just seem to be unoriginal.

bosk1

Encores generally aren't original.

B with much hesitation.
this

+1.

I just like the songs better with B than A, especially BAI vs. Outcry. To do the mix and match as others, I would only swap PMU vs. UAGM, simply because I have never heard UAGM live (but probably prefer PMU).

Correct.  I was trying to say that I was hoping for something original as far as encores go.

clearly PMU has been done many times.  I certainly love everything DT has done but PMU is probably the only song that has been played too much for me.

TAC

BAI and FFH just barely beat out Outcry and BTS. But man, it's close...
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

Wow. After voting I see that I am in the minority. I was at the San Francisco show, so it's hard for me to vote for Set B. Seeing Silent Man was awesome for me, and I wouldn't want to trade that. Are there other songs I would have liked to of heard? Sure. I'm just thankful for what I did hear. I thought it was the best live show that I've seen by them. (it was number 8 for me)

Ben_Jamin

Id have to go with A. It would be perfect to swap CIAW and have room for both BAI and Outcry.

Cranky

I just got home from the show in Seattle!!

First of all, it was incredible.... So incredible! Jame's was on fire, and everyone was just having a blast.
And, JP looked at me and pointed, which was neat, I know it was me because I was on the 2nd floor, first row, at the very end of the seats.
Though, I think he must have pointed and waved at everyone in the venue.. But, that's my point (pun intended). It made everyone feel special!

As for the set list, they played A, and I would of rather seen B, but after seeing the incredible performance, I don't even care anymore.. It was just so incredible!

Oh, and is there anywhere I can see all the animations and stuff? Namely the introduction, because I couldn't see it very clearly, The top of the stage cut off those neat cube things.

Nekov

The ideal would be setlist B with the silent man instead of wait for sleep. But still, I prefer setlist B. BAI  :metal

Wow, this is a really tough call for me... I'll be watching a show on the European tour, but seeing these different set-lists I'll probably watch two! Do they tell us before which set-list is going to be played? Or do they follow a pattern? Or do I have to go to as many shows as possible in the hope of getting both set-lists?

The Silent Man vs. Wait for Sleep - This is a really hard decision, but I think I would rather have Wait for Sleep. But this is a case in which both is better.

Beneath the Surface vs. Far From Heaven - Even harder for me than the previous choice: I absolutely love Far From Heaven, but Beneath the Surface is longer and would seem to me to be a better live song. So I can't really pick: both is better.

Forsaken vs. Caught in a Web - This one is relatively easy for me: Forsaken!!!

Outcry vs. Breaking All Illusions - This is the second toughest choice for me: Outcry is probably my favourite song from the new album, and seeing it performed live must be amazing. But Breaking All Illusions is also a really great song and its (in my opinion) happier vibe would probably make for a great live performance. In the end I go with Outcry, but both is better...

Under a Glass Moon vs. Pull Me Under - This one is also not as hard: Pull me Under is nice and probably pretty cool live, but Under a Glass Moon is a much superior song (in my opinion), so I would go with the latter.

So while it would seem the first set-list is preferable to me, I love the songs in the alternative one so much that I would rather not lose anything!

Ultimetalhead

Looking at the tour dates, it looks like I'll be getting setlist A. And, since that nets us my Dad's two favorite DT songs (UAGM and Beneath the Surface) and Outcry, I'd say I'm pretty happy with that.

(nothing)

Far From Heaven & Breaking All Illusions would be perfect for an encore, I wonder why they didn't do that.

smegolas

I actually prefer 4/5 from set A, with BAI being the only song from set B I'd prefer.  And since Outcry is also a fantastic song, I pick A.  But Im seeing B tonight in Vancouver (presumably).

Dorkmaster Flek

I'd love to hear Outcry live, and I prefer Under A Glass Moon to Pull Me Under, but I'm going to go with B because I prefer Caught In A Web to Forsaken, and because I fucking love Breaking All Illusions and I must see it live!

Well, the obvious answer is that they don't think it would be perfect for an encore.  Not sure what else to tell you.

The Silent Man or Wait For Sleep: Pretty tough choice directly but despite Images and Words being a much better album than Awake (to me) I would say TSM before WFS. However if it would have been "A mind Beside Itself" against WFS and Learning to Live. 8 days a week I would have gone with WFS and LTL...

Beneath The Surface or Far From Heaven: Pretty easy choice. BTS I like from the start. FFH is a bit meh-y to me. Still okay but it's nothing against BTS.

Forsaken or Caught In A Web: Despite me having heard Forsaken live and not CIAW I have never really liked CIAW. So another pretty easy choice.

Outcry or Breaking All Illusions: Two of the best songs from the new album and as much as I would have wanted both in the set, BAI is the best song I've heard from DT for some albums so the choice is still pretty easy.

Under A Glass Moon or Pull Me Under: The main thing making this choice easy is that as a closing song PMU is so much better than UaGM. UaGM was surprisingly good as an opener in the summer dates but as a closer I simply can't see it.

-

I would have preferred a combination between the two and despite it being 3-2 for Setlist A, The two "wins" for BAI and PMU makes Setlist B the one I prefer no matter what...

coffees for closers

I am pulling for Set List C by the time they play in NJ as that should give them time enough to practice getting all those sick parts in Lost Not Forgotten down to a science. They have to play that live at some point it would be amazing. I also  wish they would play Home.

That would go for me too, if you asked me before last night's show, so I was happy to get A. WFS never did much for me; BTS could be my favorite off the new CD, and I've see PMU a couple times, UaGM never. I like BAI but Outcry ruled live. Forsaken is an ok song but I would love to have seen CiaW. That is definitely a song that needed to get back in to the rotation and long time ago.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

Progmetty

Metropolis is bound to show up as the encore sooner or later imo.

ytserush

For me it comes down to Forsaken or Far From Heaven

I'm screwed either way.

Not much of a difference otherwise so I'd be mostly happy with either.

Outcry is the only song that makes this a hard choice but I'm gonna go with B.

THIS.

N4Player

BAI makes me want setlist B, but I do love Outcry just as much. Really wish they would just play both every night. Judging from the rotation looks like setlist A will be for Toronto. BTS and Forsaken make it worthwhile for me. Rather have WFS and BAI over Silent Man and UAGM any day. Things could change before then but they will kick my ass with whatever they play. Grateful at the end of the day that I am going and I will be in row 6 on JP's side. :hefdaddy

Tumdace

Well im going to the Toronto show, so it looks like setlist A for me. I really wanted to see BAI, but Outcry is my 2nd fav song on ADTOE, so its a win anyways.

I really really really wanted to see Metropolis live though, or LtL, and sad I wont see either (unless they surprise us).

B all the way. Although I would miss Outcry.

What I think they should do is to always end the main set with BAI and then always have Outcry as the first encore, followed by PMU or UAGM (although I think Metropolis Pt. 1 would make a much better encore than UAGM). In short, BAI and Outcry are both just too good to not be played on "their" tour.

I'm hoping we'll get Outcry and BAI in the same set.

Cool, I got my wish.  Looking forward to Boston.

JediKnight1969

I'd prefer:

Wait for sleep
Forsaken
Outcry
Breaking all illusions
Beneath the surface
Pull me under
