Place your bets before 2:00 p.m. PST 9/24/11 (because that's the date of the first new show).  Here are the rules:

-Post your predicted set list before 2:00 p.m. the date of the show.  Any posts or edits after that time will not count.
-Post no more than 2 hours, 15 minutes of music.  The set will likely be just under 2 hours, but this gives a bit of leeway.  Post any more than that, and you will be DQ'd.  (simple reason is, the more songs you post, the more likely you will get correct hits)
-Order does not matter (mostly).
-The person with the highest number of "correct" songs wins.  Because the encore song and possibly another small handful of songs will rotate, if there is a tiebreaker, I will consider sets from the next 3 shows on the tour as tiebreaker #1.  For example, if 2 people tie with 8 correct songs each, and then person #1 has one of this "incorrect" songs rotated into the set within the next 3 shows, he wins.
-Tiebreaker #2:  If tiebreaker #1 doesn't break a tie, I will next subtract 1 point for each incorrect song.  People may choose different numbers of songs based on song length and based on how far to take advantage of the "15 minute" or so song buffer I am giving.
-Tiebreaker #3:  Song order.  Whoever is closer to the correct order wins tiebreaker #3.
-Tiebreaker #4:  List whatever you want to be tiebreaker #4.  For example, when I did this for the Score concert years ago, some people said "they will play with an orchestra."  That happened.  So everyone who put that as their tiebreaker had an advantage if they were tied with someone who didn't put that.  Some people chose a song as their tiebreaker.  So, for example, if they put "Under a Glass Moon" as their tiebreaker, they got credit for it as a correct song, and would get credit for it again in the tiebreaker round.  Choose whatever tiebreaker you want.
-Solos:  I am not going to allow solo spots to count as "correct" songs.  Personally, I think they will continue doing a Mangini drum solo spot.  But if they really shorten it, and he basically does a slightly extended drum roll going into Ytsejam, for example, I don't want to get into a debate about whether it counts as a "song" for purposes of the pool.  BUT if you want to choose a member solo as your tiebreaker, I will count it there.

Recap:  Post your set list and a tie breaker.  Can't be longer than 2:15.  Must be posted and not edited by 2:00 PST before the first show on Saturday to count.

There may be a prize for the winner.  ;)

I will post mine in a second so you have an example.

What's the prize? Is it worth me cheating and getting in deep trouble for? :neverusethis:

bosk1

Yeah, since you did tour animations, you can't play.  And everyone else:  Honor system here!  No PM'ing Blob to get inside scoop.  I don't have any inside knowledge myself, which is why I'm playing.

EDIT:  But I'm curious, what does the tour animation for Raw Dog look like?

Tiebreaker: If they only play one of These Walls and Forsaken, Forsaken will be the one played.

I think they see Build Me Up, Break Me Down as the eventual second single, but will wait till it is released as a single (or with a video) to start playing it live, especially given the time constraints in the set list.

I agree.  Not only do I think it is extremely realistic, but I would be extremely happy with it.

Not because JLB hinted at it in an interview, but because it just makes sense, I think it's pretty much a lock that they open with BITS.  I give it a 0% chance they open with OTBOA.  Just doesn't work as an opener. IMHO

cyberdrummer

I don't know, I just can't see them ending with Beneath the Surface. Seems like an odd closer to me.

DarkLord_Lalinc

I hope they close with BTS. Back on the Awake turr, they closed with The Silent Man, and I thought that was fantastic. It would be a breath of fresh air since most of DT's tours end with "BIG GRAND EPIC LOL!"

In my opinion, there's a good reason for that. I love the sense of euphoria when the show finishes with a bang. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing the band experiment with BtS as the closer, could definitely be interesting. I'd just prefer them not to, that's all!  :lol

They used to close with The Silent Man, but they always had Metropolis (and later Learning To Live) as encore. So, their shows never actually closed on a regular basis with a ballad.

Jaffa

There's essentially no chance in hell I'm going to get much right.  But it sounds like fun, so I'll give it a shot.  I definitely won't win any points for track order, I don't think, because I pretty much left most of the European leg songs in the same order they were played on the first leg.

Tie-breaker 4: alternate LTL and Metropolis

Rounding to the nearest 30-second interval, it all adds up to 130 minutes,  (or 128 minutes with Metropolis).  Add in time for the drum solo and intersong dialogue and you hit 2:15.

I basically took the European setlist and the songs I thought would likely be played from ADTOE.  I cut TCOT, seeing as it's long and has been well represented these past tours.  I cut Forsaken seeing as it is fairly well-represented if I recall correctly.  I preserved the European song order and added the ADTOE songs where I thought they'd work.

Clocks in at just over 2 hours give or take a few minutes.

Tie Breaker 4: Somewhere within the set, Mike Mangini will perform a drum solo.

Mangini's had some time to learn some new tunes but I don't think they'll deviate from the summer set too much in terms of old material. Though given that they're not changing the setlists on tour anymore then i'd expect a bit more of a shake-up between tours.

About 2:06.

Tiebreaker: At least 5 songs from ADTOE will be played, one of which will be Far From Heaven or Beneath the Surface.

I basically took the old setlist, added in a few tunes from ADTOE that I thought were realistic (and utilizing what hints we've already gotten from the band), and cut it to a realistic time. The setlist I had then was a little lacking, I think, in true classics, so I threw in The Spirit Carries On, which seemed realistic because Mangini already knows it and because the lyrics aren't Portnoy's.
