3 words......  Lake    of     Fire      :metal

Actually that whole verse and the following verse   ;D

What about:

her ecstasy means so much to me even decieving my own blood...

Ummm... I feelin a bit stoopid...what's that line from????? :-[

Home, which reuses a lot of Metropolis' sections, probably the most direct references on SFAM, so it's not that stupid at all. :)

Ahhh!!  Still should have known it..... :censored
LOL thought you were referring to:

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine, lake of fire.....

:lol I'm glad I'm not the only one.

And that pensive fear section is amazing. Also the last note of UaGM as performed on Score is pretty amazing as well.

Cool Chris

I've always enjoyed "Watch the sparrow falling, gives new meaning to it all, if not today nor yet tomorrow then some other day."

This is what I came in to post. It was the first DT song I heard, back in the day, and once it got to this part, I knew this band and vocalist were going to be something awesome.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

chrisbDTM

I would say the pensive fear section of take the time is the best

Honestly, I&W is chock full of amazing vocal moments, the most in DT's entire catalogue.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Let Me Introduce, My Brotha!!!! ... which is Awake ... and I&W and Awake are like brothers ... so ... yeah ... Awake is great for vocal stuff too.

As a child, I thought I could live without pain, WITHOUT SOOOORROOOOOW

Oh my god, this.

That whole bunch of lines are just epic.

God damnit, I was scrolling through this thread, wanting to post this, but of course it has already been done.
Absolutely agree.

Infinite Cactus

I think either The second verse of Surrounded or the first verse of Take The Time have his best performance. But like many have said, the WHOLE FUCKING ALBUM is insane.

serrano

What about:

Like a scream but sort of silent
living off my nightmares

Voices...

Since we were talking about I&W Brotha...

ResultsMayVary

The whole album is basically James' best vocal moment. I&W ftw.

DarkLord_Lalinc

I once could see but now at last I'm bliiiiiiind

I love the color of his voice right there.

Ben_Jamin

Mine is

"Heaven must be more than this
When angels waken with a kiss
He said sacred hearts won't take the pain
But mine will never be the same"

namgalsipsclar

What about in Surrounded:

'He stands before the window
His shadow slowly fading from
the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall'

The way he sings that last note is so good

That.

But, yeah.  The F# is amazing.  But it's not even the best vocal moment in that song, let alone the entire album.

Ben_Jamin

Its the most anticipated note live though. Every track on I&W has great vocal moments.

I liked his vocals better on Awake personally.
But the best moment on I&W is
Praying for TIME To Disappear

livehard

Forget best vocal moment.  thats the best moment of my life....

Let us all just agree that the best vocal moment on Images and Words is THE BIT WHERE JAMES LABRIE SINGS. :metal

This.
Awesome vocal performance throughout, and so many highlights. I always loved the intro to Surrounded- not a powerful blast of godliness but heartfelt and the tone! Beautiful.

I agree with this. And also the following part.

"He stands before the window
his shadow slowly fading from the wall
And from an ivory tower hears her call
Let the light surround you"

Herrick

Hmm while it's certainly orgasmic, I disagree about that line from Metropolis Part 1 being LaBrie's breast moment on Images & Words. On the bright side Herrick now knows what song I'll be listening to on the way home from work. Now it'll be in my head until I get to the car  :tup
DISPLAY thy breasts, my Julia!

senecadawg2

There are so many great vocal moments on I&W. From the beautiful soft emotional ballad of Surrounded to the intense F#. James at his best (IMO)
Quote from: LithoJazzoSphere on November 28, 2024, 04:50:14 PMThe senecadawg who won 11 roulettes is dead and gone.  He is now diogenesdawg2.

regardless of the voice arousal, only considering the lyrics' implication i prefer the line "the way your heart sounds makes all the difference".
