This is such an interesting album because unlike their recent efforts, it sounds so much more distinctively DT, and there isn't a single song that in which the influences are clearly on the sleeve (Great Debate--Tool, TCOT--Styx, Rush, Metallica, Floyd).  However, that doesn't mean that the influences are totally absent, as there seem to be much more subtle influences (or perhaps they're just similarities).  Plus, I don't know if it's intentional, but some of this album has touches of DT's successors

TITL:  Reminds me of a cross between Evergrey (Different worlds) and Threshold (Flags and Footprints)
LNF:  Modern day Virgin Steele at times

And much like the early part of TCOT, I get a sense of 70's era Styx at times, perhaps on BAI and some of the other epics.

So, can you hear any other influences on this album?

Mostly Dream Theater. Some stuff reminds me of Rush, Yes, Pink Floyd, even Genesis, but it's mostly Dream Theater being themselves.

One of the highlights of this album is that at no point did I think "Hey, this part sounds like <insert band name>".

Sounds like Dream Theater.

And not that I mind their other influences being more prominent, but it was really cool to just hear some good ol' classic DT all the way through.

The soft section/first verse of Breaking All Illusions reminds me so much of Porcupine Tree. The groovy bass line in particular.

It actually reminded me of Opeth. Which is kind of funny. :lol

This.

commanderbob

The beginning of LNF sounds like an homage to Muse's Exogenesis Symphony and Knights of Cydonia. Other than that, it simply sounded like DT.

Zook

Not that ^ but the post before that. Fuckin' mobile.

YtseJamittaja

BMU, BMD sounds like JLB's Elements of Persuation album, otherwise it is Dream Theater.

Okay, that crazy part in Lost Not Forgotten (starts around 2 minutes) reminds me almost Blotted Science.

namgalsipsclar

The intro to lost not forgotten sounds a lot like something muse would do, and several of the riffs are Symphony x like

ACID_FOX

The keyboard about half way through BAI sounds exactly like Yes.

gabeh1018

some of the simple riffing throughout the album and verses reminds me of sevendust and metallica

m0hawk

BMUBMD's intro screamed Linkin Park to me. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the similarity is still there.

Parts of that section have a "Since I've been Loving You" Zeppelin vibe to me  :hat

Liberation

During the calm section at the beginning of Breaking All Illusions, when the guitar enters, it reminds me A LOT of Riverside. Very similar guitar sound.

Irock

Build Me Up, Break Me Down really reminds me of Rob Zombie, specifically something off of The Sinister Urge.

EpicCookie

Build Me Up, Break Me Down sounds a bit like some Djent bands, like Periphery and Circles imo

chrisbDTM

6:45-7:09 in outcry = mr. bungle's selftitled album

John94

BAI (before and during JLB singing and Paul Northfield spoken part)  reminds me so much of Wish You Were Here era of Floyd

Lowdz

Not really, but I don't listen to alot of the bands DT usually sound like. the obvious part would be in BAI, the bit that was featured in the snippet- very 70s prog. And the moog solo in BTS was very ELP. Other than that, as others have said, itg sounds like DT.

I don't really hear Virgin Steele in LNF other than the general vibe of Ancient Greece- I love the House Of Atreus cds.

~InConstantMotion~

BMUBMD reminds me a lot of JLB's solo work, particularly Elements of Persuasion. The post-chorus section reminds me a lot of Alice in Chains, mostly Them Bones.

Herrick

Herrick doesn't listen to much Progressive Rock or Progressive Metal so it all sounds like Dream Theater to me.

Far From Heaven sounds like Ants of the Sky by BTBAM.

Jaq

The beautiful thing about this album is it doesn't have the band shamelessly sounding like another band for the entirety of the song.  :) There are little things here and there that remind me of influences-the synth solo in Beneath The Surface, to me, has quite a Keith Emerson influence to it-but its influences, not sounding EXACTLY like another band. Which is a good thing.
