In Finland all the new albums are always released on Wednesday so that's why we have to wait for almost a week...

I could never figure out why the Scandanavian folk love either black metal and really cheesy singing/dance bands.

Me neither although some bands with black metal elements are good. But traditional black metal is just... I don't think the cheesy singing/dance bands are popular in Finland, most of the music played on the radio here is in minor key.

While Dream Theater may be American, I'm fairly certain their main power - support and record sales are european and asian.

Okay, so here's the deal.  Some of you will have it legally in a few hours.  The vast majority of us will not have it legally until the 12th or 13th, depending on our location.  As I have always done, my decision on how things like this should be handled is based on (1) respecting the band and their product, and (2) respecting the forum members who don't yet have access.  With that in mind, I think a fair compromise that is consistent with how we have handled past album releases is this:

You can discuss the album (songs, artwork, or whatever else) on Monday the 12th.  Since the Americans who have not purchased the box set and don't have the advance digital download won't have it until the next day, PLEASE PUT *SPOILER ALERT!* tags on any thread where the content of the album is discussed.  Failure to do so will get your thread deleted and may get you into trouble with the mods.  So, again, album discussion is fair game as of 9/12, if you put spoiler tags in the thread title (or at least at the front of your post).  Note:  Discussion is allowed for legally obtained versions of the album only.  If we have reason to suspect that you are discussing something obtained via a leak, pirating, or other improper or illegal means, the forum rules about that sort of thing still apply and will likely earn an instant ban.

For those who already have it, I know it's hard to keep it all in.  But it's just a couple more days.  Please show some restraint and respect for your fellow forumers, and Monday will be here before you know it.  If you're burning to write a review in the mean time, go ahead and write it and just save it in a Word document or something until you can post it on Monday.  Thanks.

Oh, and I probably won't be on the site on Sunday, so if you jump the gun and start discussing it on Sunday, you probably won't get caught.  Just sayin'.

Platekompaniet better send this in the mail today...If they don't I'm gonna kill someone tomorrow when I don't get my copy! My hopes are up, but there's always something special happening each time I pre-order stuff in general, which means everyone I know get things within release, and I'm a few days late. Even when it comes to the same product from the same store.

I just checked CDON.com and those bitches haven't sent it yet!! I pre-ordered it a long time ago so that i would get it the day it was released. Im so pissed right now... Black Clouds got here the day before the release date, so i trusted them to send it in time this time as well...

If only there was a way to listen to some copy of it until yours came in the mail! Hrmmmmmmmmmmm.  

With my favorite bands (DT being one of them) i never download albums before they are released. I want to get the cd and read through the booklet while i listen to it for the first time.

I really hope the digital download from the European Deluxe Edition comes with a digital booklet...

Anybody know how late the boxset will arrive in Europe? I guess I'll get the download on the 12th, but I'd really want to have the booklet and the physical version when i get it. If the boxset is gonna be several weeks late, I might even consider buying an additional standard copy on the 13th, just to have the booklet. Desperate, I know..

However, its USPS coming from the US to Canada, so I dont expect it in next week (especially if it gets stuck at the border).
